He and that movie are notorious in NOLA for the hokey, fake accent he used.  Absolutely no one here speaks like that.  Our native accent is closer to Brooklyn than any southern drawl.  I was just reading something online last week that listed him as having the all time worst accent in a movie for "The Big Easy."  So unfortunately, that's what I think of when I hear his name.

I think he looks fine. 

He has fleshy cheeks that make it look like he had implants or whatever people are accusing him of having.

Here he isn't grinning, and his cheeks look fine.

I saw him in a recent "Demand" B movie. I couldn't believe it. You could actually see the scars on the side of his face. Whoever did his face did a hatchet job on him. He should scare a lot of people away from going under the knife!
