Re: Demise of the Paper Check?

@cody2

You can write checks til your heart's content but the banks won't accept them if they actually go through with getting rid of paper checks. It's already nearly a cashless society. This is prophecy being fulfilled.

@Spurt

I don't know if this is the same thing you're talking about but for several years when my husband was working we had an option of taking a photo of the front and back of his paychecks and they would be uploaded to our bank. I didn't use it very many times because we had contract labor and supplies to pay. Taking a photo of the check delayed the deposit by about 2 days.

Yes, the speed of the availability depends on the bank...My bank works like yours @sunshine45  if it goes before 9 PM CT the funds are available, the next business day.

Re: Demise of the Paper Check?

Check writer here!  I pay utilities and several other accounts with check.  I only pay credit cards online.

I write checks from my father's account also.  He doesn't have anything set up 'online' and I'm not going to start this late in the game.

Wrote out 2 today and one for my father.

I will write checks until they say I can no longer.  Love how up to 10 checks can be deposited to an ATM and the ATM can read handwriting (cursive and printing) quite easily.

My credit union gives us free checks and I will order more after the first of the year.

Re: Demise of the Paper Check?

I pay all my bills by check and mail them through my local post office. I just feel more secure than having my credit card out there on line.

It just works for me!

It's been a LONG time since I used the feature.  Maybe it's faster now.  We don't have paper checks to deposit anymore so I won't lose any sleep over it Smiley Wink  Time keeps on marching forward with or without us lol

Re: Demise of the Paper Check?

Funny, after reading the posts here, I remembered that I always keep a check in my wallet "just in case".

I looked to make sure it's still there .... tucked away.

I bet it's been there for 5 years ... or more.  Haven't used it, but somehow it makes me feel secure.  LOL

@Tinkrbl44

My husband insisted I buy one of those RFID thingies to put my debit card and emergency credit card in it.  I also have my Medicare and United Health Care card in it.  He has carried one for years.

All my bills are paid online with my checking account.  I'm considering setting most of them up on autopay.  All we pay monthly is utilities, ins, and Amazon.  I wouldn't do auto pay on Amazon.  Probably would be safe, but...
