It refers to taking the mark of the beast during the tribulation in order to purchase anything.  It is Biblical.

Thanks, @tends2dogs. I was curious why @monicakm brought it up on a thread about checks.

@SharkE

Perhaps it depends upon the size of the church. I have the App for my church, and they offer multiple ways to give on Sunday.

I personally text my amount via the app that has my information on file.

One of my good girlfriends attends the same church, and she has her amount automatically withdrawn monthly from her account.

Easy Peasy.

Thanks for asking, since it seems like it just came out of left field.  Don't recall any references to check writing in the Bible.

Satanic check writing.  Who knew?

Akin to the Satanic nose ring I suppose.

Re: Demise of the Paper Check?

I rarely write checks. I had to think back to the last time I wrote one, and it was last year, when I had fence repair work done in my backyard.

I pay all bills online, the weekend before they are due. I log in and schedule the payments, ensuring the money is deducted on the date I choose.

I have a few bills that are automatically paid, such as the HOA fee on a piece of property that I own with my brother, and the monthly car Insurance premium.

I also have a handful of subscriptions that renew automatically: Hulu, Netflix, and the like.

I utilize a planner and write out each month what bills are due and when.

I also purchased a Simple Account tracker, 5.5 x 8.5. I write down all deductions, check my bank account to verify when items have posted, and place a check mark in the Account tracker.

There is never any confusion, and it's pretty simple. Everyone has their own system, and this works for me.

7% is a pretty small share of checks still being written nationwide. It might be best for those who are determined to write checks to perhaps test out making a payment online, so it's not a sudden change for you if this option is removed.

I wholeheartedly agree that any business that wants to stay in business will find a way to accept payments if the check option is removed.

Re: Demise of the Paper Check?

They will have to tear my checkbook out of my cold, dead hands. The lady that repairs computers for us agrees with me. I paid her with a check. She said she and I may be the only one still using paper checks in our town. She doesn't trust doing it online or on her phone.

Re: Demise of the Paper Check?

[ Edited ]

Although I pay bills online, paper checks are still convenient for me --- I had a friend pick me up a couple of things at the grocery store when she was doing her weekly shopping, I didnt have cash on hand, I dont trust Cash App/Venmo/Zelle they've been heavily target by fraudsters, scammers, and there have even cases of bank account drainages---- so I wrote a paper check, she went to her bank app which is more secure, they have an option to take a picture of the check, she upload it and the money was safely in her bank account.

Zelle faces scrutiny from regulators like the CFPB due to large losses, with some banks allegedly not reimbursing victims, leading to lawsuits and concerns about insufficient fraud protection compared to credit cards.

In 2021, Cash App experienced a data breach affecting over 8 million users' information, though this was a system breach, not necessarily direct account access for all.
