Squirrels are basically rats with bushy tails. They are everywhere. They come to my back door and tap on the window to let me know my birdfeeder is empty. They have chewed off pieces of our house siding and gnaw on the vent stack pipes. $700. They also love to climb up the chimney and chew and bend the chimney cap cover. $180. The piece d'resistance was chewing through some of the a/c wires on the unit which fried the entire system when it shorted out and burned...$9000. They join us for dinner on the patio by hopping onto the table when we are eating. That is my definition of squirrels. 😬

Isn't that what many say about eating wildlife, "it tastes just like chicken".
In my experience with venison, bison, squirrel, etc., NO it doesn't taste anything like chicken, IMO.
I don't care how you try to 'brine it' to get rid of the wild taste, it doesn't
@KingstonsMom I have had bison, venison and lots of game birds that are wonderful! I had some bison once that tasted like shoe leather and was gamey, but that is my only bad experience with it.
And I absolutely love wild phesant, and quail and duck! Nothing is better than quail gravy! You can buy most of this in the store, but to me wild, properly cleaned and cooked, is better. Well, never had wild buffalo! LOL!!!

Mice are tying to come in around my place I've got 4 traps sitting out baited with peanut butter . I'm up to 7 now. I trap 'em , hubbo, gets rid of the bodies.
So, far, not one has gotten in. Cat would have a heyday in my garage.
Suppose to drop down in the 20's tonight. You can't stop them from seeking out a warmer place. We got underneath the garage doors stuffed with rags, but, they get under the rags. Just have to kill 'em after they get in.

We have seen squirrels and chipmunks, but we have several PREDATORS to keep the population down. Namely: neighborhood cats, a redtail hawk, a fox and our dogs. I believe in nature taking its course; although I love animals, even wild ones, but nature is not always kind.

You probably should have your roof checked then (depending on what material it's covered with). They damaged the roof of my house in Durham NC and hid nuts, acorns in there a couple of years ago.
@KatieB Oh I can imagine that! We had wood shakes in our last house, but in this one it is a hail-resistant comp roof. I loved the shakes, but they are a fire hazard so we had to go with the flow.
And I forgot to mention that I'm going broke buying bird food - they steal all the bird food they can get to. They broke one of my favorite bird feeders last week. There was a squirel in a tree outside my kitchen bay window this morning, that rascal examined all the feeders hanging from the tree looking for food. I would love to get rid of those things once and for all. I thought about buying DCon, mixing it with peanut butter but I'm afraid the birds will eat it.

@KingstonsMom My DH grew up eating squirrel pie, which I didn't really like. But my Mom floured the legs and breasts and fried them in butter in cast iron. They were crispy and delightful! It is important they be gutted as soon as possible in order to get the best flavor. In my opinion, they were next best to wild rabbit and then pheasant.
