I wondered if Berry Baby was going to take off soon. I watched her a long time yesterday and she was sitting on a limb at the edge of the nest tettering back and forth like she was trying to get up her nerve.

I just checked on Berry and she and a parent (dad?) were in the nest devouring something so maybe she had a hunting lesson. When she didn't want to share a tidbit, she'd stand on it. Brat. There were very close to the camera. Best view of them I've seen.

Kachina it's a good sign that she's protecting her food. I was online checking the chickens (lol), Berry, Fort St Vrain, MN Bound and Decorah and saw B3 take off. I became very emotional and weepy {#emotions_dlg.lol}

I know what you mean; it's almost sending your own kids off into the big, cruel world. I hope she does well and comes back to nest sometime in the future, she's going to be a beauty.

Anyone here still following the DDDs? I just read on the RRP facebook page that we lost another one yesterday morning to electricution, the oldest D18. Since losing D12 and D14 from the 2012 trio, Bob Anderson had worked tirelessly to have the power poles in the area retrofitted with guards and alot of progress had been made since but D18 was about a mile from 'mulch mountain', out of the area that the work was done and this journey turned fatal.

It has been hard following them this year after fledge (unless you are on ground at site) because last yr Ma and Pa Decorah had moved from nest 1 (N1) to N2. N2 did not have the great Y branch to hang out on so the kids took up playing on the county mulch pile (mulch mountain). The bugs at the nest were very heavy this yr so it drove them all from the nest, D18 was ready, D19 maybe was too but was found in the middle of the highway, temporarly unable to fly, rehabbed for a night then released, first being fitted with a transmitter. Little D20 was still not ready to fledge but couldnt handle the bugs and a day without his sibs so he took off out of the nest too soon. Someone found him down in the trout creek the next day, thank God, and he is now at SOAR rehabbing a broken wing. The days they fledged were raining heavily and that may have hindered their first flights I'm thinking.

If you havent seen them lately check them out at the Raptor Research Project page on facebook. Ma and Pa come to the mulch pile to feed them and hang out, they are pretty funny, lots a great photos! Will certainly miss D18, s/he was a silly guy/gal...

eta~ somebody needs to mow the nest, have you seen it! B3s nest too!

Seagal, I've been following D20's progress since I read about the injury. I was heartbroken to read about D18's collision with the power line. I was going to try to find this thread and update it.

Thank you so much for beating me to it. I worry about the 2 eagles from Fort St Vrain in Colorado, Justice the eagle from the RF camera and our girl B3. Also can't find too many updates about the MN Bound eagles.

SeaGal, I read about that eagle last night on the Pittsburgh Hay's bald Eagle site. We have really been lucky our 3 eagles are all flying around and at times return to their nest. Their two parents have been wonderful to these three. I have just started watching since she laid the three eggs. Everyone who watch these sites say these parents are absolutely amazing how they have taken care of these little ones. We have one who was born last and he is such a screamer you always know when he is back and when he wants feed.

Birdmama, have you checked out the MNBound facebook page for updates, I know they have one? I hear the FSV kids have been seen on the nest here and there, they seem well. Check to see if they have a facebook page too. Berry College has a facebook page too, updates on B3 there.

cater, Pittsburg Hayes had a wonderful season, as I understand it, this is the first year with a cam on the nest? Such good news as we lost alot of chicks this season on a few of the nests. Eagles and ospreys.

Here is a Decorah video that will make your heart sing! Try an watch this with a straight face. {#emotions_dlg.laugh} youtube.com/watch?v=bEvWf4aGBxA

or google Decorah Eagles All 3 Eaglets in Flight Training - dated 6-14-14, too funny!!

There is a great nest of osprey chicks at explore.org if you are jonesin for some chickie cuteness, a beautiful nest site in Bremen Maine, please check them out. Parents are Steve and Rachael, chicks have been named Pia, Poole and Pan! Just go to the explore.org page and click on the picture box of the osprey. Oh there is also a baby penguin in its berm and a baby puffin in its berm, too cute they are also. Their on that explore.org page too. And Bears oh my!!

Oh and my kids at White Rock, Indy and Jules are ready to go, one fludged this weekend, he was jumpin jumpin on the branch and missed, looks like it took him 5 hours to make it back to the nest and he has stuck close since lol! Anyday now for those 2 cuties. (big bummer, their close up cam went out a couple weeks ago but can see on wide angle cam). Take a look, another beautiful setting with awesome sunsets, on the bay.

Take care girls, have a nice day...
