Dating sights

Im ready to get back into the dating scene. I recently met a very nice gentleman but he was contemplating to move and I cant so after 4 weeks we had to break it off. It really made me sad as we both cared for each other. We had met on plenty of fish.

I was contemplating joining a better site, one that you pay for like match.com or eharmony. Has anyone had any success with these sights? If u have do you care share your experience? TIA

POF is a notorious hook up site so "dating", uh, not so much. If a site's free you get what you pay for.

I've been on both eHarmony & Match but it's been years. Met some nice guys but nothing special. A LOT of men & women on those sites are married or otherwise involved so use common sense.

Be honest, have fun. Join a church social group or community organization. News story tonite had some pretty hunky Habitat for Humanity volunteers working on a home for a disabled vet in need.

Hunk with a Hammer. Can't beat that combo!!

I met my husband of 16 yrs (2 days ago - married 9/9/99) on Classified 2000.

To be honest, I have no idea why I tried that site, as I had used Match.com prior to that. I had been widowed and not particularly looking for a husband, just someone to date. Strangely enough, he lived about 3 miles from me and we really hit it off. Ahhh, fate. (And he was a handyman, too - double score!)

Good luck! My niece is currently dating after a divorce and has the same attitude I had. Look at it as an adventure!

I agree, it's a good way to meet a man with household skills.

If you join a site like Match their profiles will often tell you about their hobbies like woodworking or fixing cars. eHarmony says something like "handy around the house".

ITA with Denise. Have fun! Take an inventory of what you have to offer someone. You won't feel desperate when you look at your list.

I've suggested this before, and not too many here were thrilled about the idea, but...........besides volunteering for HFH, try roaming around a large home improvement center, preferably the ones that deal with professional contractors and/or carpenters. Just look around, see 'what's new' (lol)...........Maybe try to think of a project that you might be interested in doing/making. Could even be a plank of wood to stain, and place on a table for a Fall decor setting. Well, it is an idea............

eharmony says they're very successful, but I know two people who had the same result ..... the site kept supplying "interesting" choices for them, but there was never any chemistry with the people selected. So, who knows.

I think it's important to lead with your INTERESTS .... do you like to play tennis? Do you volunteer with anything? If you meet people whose interests are similar, you're one step ahead .... JMO

I think that's a good idea ... all kinds of things - and people - to shop for at Home Depot.
