Re: Dallas Hospital Shooting

@hckynutjohn

I was six years old and living in Chicago when Richard Speck brutally murdered eight nursing students there.

Fifty-six years later I still remember his name but can't recall those of the dead students.

There's something very wrong with that.

Like you, I remember Charles Starkweather, killing 11 people in Wyoming and my state in 1957-1958. I was 19 years old during that murder spree.

I will remember his name as long as I have a memory. The victims? I can't name 1 of them.

The media back then was not instantaneous, as it is these days, and more media was in newspapers than on TV. No "live action" connections back then.

And really, does anyone really care about an alleged murderers background, other than he was already a criminal prior to the event?

He!!, I grew up in the Public Housing Projects, no Dad! I hear that way too often in some of these stories and always think, So What?

Sad Stories, but nix the name of the perp, and talk about the victim(s)

Re: Dallas Hospital Shooting

The news here took some time to announce the identity of one of the victims until they could notify her next of kin, who were over seas at the time. This probably left some news time open so they went into depth about the shooter. Tonight I saw the spokesperson for hospital security saying the parole board never notified them the shooter would be coming to the hospital. Now the blame game begins...no one to blame now but the shooter.
