Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Hello my friends! I'm going to try to get this out before another storm comes our way in case the electricity goes out again like last night!! What a blessing we have with electricity! Wow!! I always had electricity growing up, but not TV or running water until I was 16. Listened to the radio alot. Father Jerry, my cousin, had a celebration for his 50th Jubilee as a priest today - we went to the Cathedral for his Mass, and wonderful homily gave of his life of fifty years as a priest. It rained - and the reception was outside, in tent awning type thing which worked. Got to see my cousin, Marilyn, and we ate together. Shirley, too, my classmate and Father Jerry's sister - we visited with. So something I didn't even know about him - he wrote poetry! There's booklets out there and I got mine, so thought I'd share a piece of his poetry here and there, if that's okay. He wrote that this poem describes an experience he had while attending daily Mass at St. John's Seminary. The aged face of our rector inspired my faith as he elevated the Host and Chalice with evident reverence and humility.

Mirror of Faith

Ah! Christ is there!

I see it not within the bread

That lies beside the cup,

But written on the face of him

Who holds His Body up!

The regal throne of gold does not

So speak of things divine,

As does the homage of the heart

That tastes for Blood the Wine!

Prayers for you all - especially for shorelady and her dear husband! Thank you all who posted and gave her support and love!!!

A blessing is an explosion of joy from God that ripples through your heart

and fills

your mind with God's light and hope. Lord, help me speak the words of

blessing

when they are needed by someone who is lonely, or who is dying or who is

depressed.

Scripture for the day:

"But those who look into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and

persevere, being not hearers who forget but doers who act--they will be

blessed in their doing." ~James 1:25

Meditation for the day:

When something happens to upset us and we are discouraged, we can try to

feel that life's difficulties and troubles are not intended to arrest

our progress in the spiritual life, but to test our strength and to

increase our determination to keep going. Whatever it is that must be

met, we can either overcome it or use it. Nothing need daunt us for

long, nor need any difficulty entirely overcome or conquer us. God's

strength is always there, waiting for us to use it. Nothing can be too

great to be overcome, or if not overcome, then used.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may know that there can be no failure with God. I pray

that with God's help I may live a more victorious life.

WITH GOD EVERYTHING'S POSSIBLE, INCLUDING THE CORRECTION OF OUR PAST

MISTAKES

How's this for a prayer: "O my God! Source of all mercy! I acknowledge Your

sovereign power. While recalling the wasted years that are past, I believe

that You, Lord, can in an instant turn this loss to gain. Miserable as I am,

yet I firmly believe that You can do all things. Please restore to me the

time lost, giving me Your grace, both now and in the future, that I may

appear before You in 'wedding garments.' Amen."

It's from St. Teresa of Avila. We spoke about this a year ago: how with God

all is possible and how we can even ask Him to go into our pasts and correct

wrong things we did or didn't do (especially to others).

How potent! We can redeem ourselves now -- through His grace.

Who doesn't have things they would like to reverse? There are times we hurt

others. There are times we didn't do enough. There are times we said the

wrong thing -- or didn't say the right thing. There are times we committed

sin.

Turn time back. For Him, there is no time. With God, all is possible.

And anyway, we know that the Memorare can be called the "prayer of the

impossible." We have that tool also!

When we right a wrong -- with our whole hearts -- in God's Eyes (after

expiation) it is changed. Did you waste time? Did you neglect things? Have

you offended (who has not)? Go back and ask God to fix that too. Pray that

the results He expected occur despite your lapse. He can work this!

We also have the powerful novena called "Our Lady, Undoer of Knots." This

prayer asks the Blessed Mother to untie knots we have created. As the author

of a booklet on it explains, "Our lives are a jumble of knots! Knots in our

personal lives, family lives, work lives. Knots big and small that we or

others formed, that chain us, leave us vulnerable, fragile, timorous,

enslaved, unhappy. Knots of anguish, of fear, knots of depression, which we

cannot untie. Knots in our relationships with our spouses, parents,

children, brothers, sisters."

Go back and fix them.

You'll feel harmony. You'll feel relief. Why harbor anxiety?

In prayer, go back through your life and send love where you should have

sent love and embrace those you should not have rejected. It counts! In this

way too, you recover your full mission, your full destiny.

Ask Mary, ask the Lord, to unknot your past. Make things right. Turn

radiant. Call Heaven. The area code is "Jesus I trust in You" and the number

is "Mary take over."

Press Onward

Keep a brave spirit,

and never despair

Hope brings you messages

through the keen air

Good is victorious,

God everywhere

Grand are the battles

which you have to fight

Be not downhearted,

but valiant for right

Hope, and press forward,

your face to the light.

author unknown

Bless me, O Lord

Heavenly Father, Almighty God.

I humble myself before your Presence. What a joy it is to come to you.

I thank you and I praise for your infinite Majesty, Omnipotence and

Perfections.

Please forgive me all my sins.

Lord I come to you in my nothingness.

I want to worship you and adore you, to love you with all my heart,

with all my mind, with all my soul and with all my strength.

I want to burn with desire for you like an angel.

I need you my Lord, I am nothing without you.

I ask you to raise me before your Glory.

Shine your light upon me, allow me to walk with you and always do your Holy

Will ,

protect me and bless me O Merciful Lord.

Fill me with your Holy Spirit, grant me peace, love and joy.

Heal me, bless me and sanctify me O Lord; make me a blessing for all those

around me.

Amen.

The Eyes of Love

A grandmother and a little girl whose face was sprinkled with bright red

freckles spent the day at the zoo. The children were waiting in line to get

their cheeks painted by a local artist who was decorating them with tiger

paws.

'You've got so many freckles, there's no place to paint!' a boy in the line

cried.

Embarrassed, the little girl dropped her head. Her grandmother knelt down

next to her. 'I love your freckles,' she said.

'Not me,' the girl replied.

'Well, when I was a little girl I always wanted freckles,' she said, tracing

her finger across the child's cheek. 'Freckles are beautiful!'

The girl looked up. 'Really?'

'Of course,' said the grandmother. 'Why, just name me one thing that's

prettier than freckles.'

The little girl peered into the old woman's smiling face. 'Wrinkles,' she

answered softly.

A Savior Meditation

Be good, and you'll never regret it.

Be bad, and you'll never forget it.

If mistaken, be first to confess it.

If right, be the last to express it.

If wrong, then be quick to redress it.

If it's slander, be sure to suppress it.

Be kind, but let no one suspect it.

Be wise, but let no one detect it.

Be fair, for your friends will expect it.

Be swift, or perhaps you'll neglect it.

If it's borrowed, be quick to repay it.

If it's loaned, make excuse to delay it.

Be selfish, and no one will miss you.

Be a fool, and the demons will hiss you.

Be yourself, and the Good Lord will kiss you.

Gloriajean: That's just wonderful about Father Jerry's 50th Jubilee.

Wanted to check in before checking into bed for the night. Sunday was a nice day - we had lunch at Whole Foods and did a little shopping after.

Thinking of shorelady.

{{{go2girl}}} Hope there is another positive update soon about your dear grandbaby.

Today will be a quiet day; or at least it is supposed to be.

See you all later.

Good morning!

I've been busy this am trying to wade through stuff and get rid of it! How many magazines do I need to keep? lol We recycle so those will go in the paper bin. That to do list seems to keep growing and growing! lol

Gloria, it sounds like you had a very nice Sunday. Hello to Cakers and Harlene.

Please add to your prayers my dh and my cousin. DH still having problems from his neck surgery, seems the nerves are affecting his hands and hard to use them. My cousin is in need of a heart/lung transplant and has been placed at the top of the list because of recent problems. Thanks!

I know the Lord hears our prayers and I know he can move mountains and perform miracles. My trust and faith is in him.

Thoughts and prayers to all, God bless you with peace that only he can provide.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Cakers - although it rained, it was a great celebration! The Mass was just beautiful, wonderful choir!! Big Cathedral!!! That has to be a good place to have a meal at Whole Foods! Thinking of shorelady and go2girl too and Felicia! if you come here please post!

Harlene - thanks - He has many very nice poems in his booklet. Glad you liked it.

Lucy - Oh my ! I know there's so much to do - so many to do lists!! Now we are counting people we can invite here for our garage - it's not easy to know you can't have all you want because there's not that much room here - but then, not all can come - talking about our 50th Aug. 31st. Sorry about your husband problem with his neck and your cousin. When Linus had problems with his neck due to arthritis, the gin and raisins took care of it. But I'm sure your husband's more serious and of course, prayers are in order.

Love Roses - so nice to see you back here with us again!! You've been missed.
