Daily Positive Thread for Friday

If everyone thought alike, no one would have to do much thinking.
Lord, bless me with the strength of my convictions and the ability
to disagree when necessary without being disagreeable.

Scripture for the day:

"Through Christ you have come to trust in God, who raised him from the
dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are set on God." ~1
Peter 1:21

Meditation for the day:

God's miracle-working power is as manifest today as it was in the past.
It still works miracles of change in lives and miracles of healing in
troubled minds. When a person trusts wholly in God and leaves to God
the choosing of the day and hour, there is God's miracle-working power
becoming manifest in that person's life. We can trust in God and have
boundless faith in God's power to make us whole again.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may feel sure that there is nothing that God cannot
accomplish in changing my life. I pray that I may have faith in God's
miracle-working power.

Hello my friends! Beautiful day here in MN! Today was Linus' day to be with Darla as she did more Wedding shopping - he bought his suit and tie for the Wedding, so that is finished now, she ordered her Wedding cake - and now she's busy with her good friend, Adrienne, who will be her bridesmaid and her daughters who will be junior bridesmaids - shopping for the girls dresses. Then we'll have Darla here tonight and overnight before she has to leave back tomorrow morning. Looking forward to have her here. Linus planted more lettuce today and more peas, it will be a fun summer with all he has planted! When I think of last year at this time, our house was for sale, and now we don't have to worry about that and he can putz outside all he wants to! Lori had army worms on her trees - so he was busy there yesterday spraying them off. Fortunately we don't have any here. Hope you all are having a good day with the Lord.

Unceasing Prayer
Dear Father, who answers our prayers, Help me to be steadfast in my praying
to you, even to stay awake that I may pray! Fill my life with thanksgiving
to you. O God, I pray for all your servants everywhere that you may open a
door for us to proclaim your Word, to declare the now-public secret - Christ
crucified, glorified, and coming - and to make the message clear, as we
ought to speak. In the name of Jesus I ask you to fill our lives with your
holy life and to claim all our motives and deeds as your own. Amen.

Wisdom of the Saints

"Prayer gives us strength for great ideals, for keeping up our faith,
charity, purity, generosity; prayer gives us strength to rise up from
indifference and guilt, if we have had the misfortune to give in to
temptation and weakness. Prayer gives us light by which to see and to judge
from God's perspective and from eternity. That is why you must not give up
on praying!"
Bl. Pope John Paul II

"He whose attitude towards Christ is correct does indeed ask 'in His Name'
and receives what he asks for, if it is something which does not stand in
the way of his salvation. He gets it, however, only when he ought to receive
it, for certain things are not refused us, but their granting is delayed to
a fitting time."

St.Augustine

"Prayer is the raising of one's mind and heart to God or the requesting of
good things from God."

St. John Damascene

"For me prayer is an upward leap of the heart, an untroubled glance toward
heaven, a cry of gratitude and love which I utter from the depths of sorrow
as well as from the heights of joy."

St. Thérèse of Lisieux

"How pleasing to our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament is the short quarter of
an hour that we steal from our occupations, from something of no use, to
come and pray to Him, to visit Him, to console Him."

St. John Vianney

"Mental prayer is nothing else than an intimate friendship, a frequent
heart-to-heart conversation with Him by whom we know ourselves to be loved."

St. Teresa of Avila

COPING WITH STRESS
Author Unknown

A lecturer, when explaining stress management to an audience, raised a
glass of water and asked, "How heavy is this glass of water?" Answers
called out ranged from 20g to 500g.

The lecturer replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends
on how long you try to hold it.
If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem.
If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm.
If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance.

In each case, it's the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the
heavier it becomes."

He continued, "And that's the way it is with stress management. If we
carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes
increasingly heavy, we won't be able to carry on."

"As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for a while and
restbefore holding it again. When we're refreshed, we can carry on
with the burden."

"So, before you return home tonight, put the burden of work down.
Don't carry it home. You can pick it up tomorrow. Whatever burdens
you're carrying now, let them down for a moment if you can."

So, my friend, Put down anything that may be a burden to you right
now. Don't pick it up again until after you've rested a while.

Here are some great ways of dealing with the burdens of life:
* Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the
statue.

* Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat
them.

* Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the
middle of it.
* Drive carefully. It's not only cars that can be recalled by their
maker.

* If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.
* If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was
probably worth it.
* It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply be kind to
others.
* Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you
won't have a leg to stand on.
* Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.
* Since it's the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, sleep late.
* The second mouse gets the cheese.
* When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.
* Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live.
* You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the
world to one person.
* Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once .
* We could learn a lot from crayons... Some are sharp, some are pretty
and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different
colors, but they all have to live in the same box.

*A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

Be understanding to your perceived enemies.

Be loyal to your friends.

Be strong enough to face the world each day.

Be weak enough to know you cannot do everything alone.

Be generous to those who need your help.

Be frugal with that you need yourself.

Be wise enough to know that you do not know everything.

Be foolish enough to believe in miracles.

Be willing to share your joys.

Be willing to share the sorrows of others.

Be a leader when you see a path others have missed.

Be a follower when you are shrouded by the mists of uncertainty.

Be first to congratulate an opponent who succeeds.

Be last to criticize a colleague who fails.

Be sure where your next step will fall, so that you will not tumble.

Be sure of your final destination, in case you are going the wrong way.

Be loving to those who love you.

Be loving to those who do not love you; they may change.

Above all, be yourself.

A GREAT RECIPE...

1. Take a 10-30 minute walk every day. And while you walk, smile. It is the
ultimate anti-depressant.

2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day. Talk to God about what
is going on in your life. Buy a lock for your door if you have to.

3. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, 'My
purpose is to __________ today. I am thankful for______________'

4. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is
manufactured in plants.

5. Drink green tea and plenty of water. Eat blueberries, wild Alaskan
salmon, broccoli , almonds & walnuts.

6. Try to make at least three people smile each day.

7. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of
the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest
your energy in the positive present moment..

8. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a college
kid with a maxed out charge card.

9. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

10. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone..

11. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

12. You are not so important that you have to win every argument. Agree to
disagree.

13. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.

14. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey
is all about.

15. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

16. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: 'In five years, will
this matter?'

17. Forgive everyone for everything.

18. What other people think of you is none of your business.

19. GOD heals everything - but you have to ask Him.

20. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

21. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will.
Stay in touch!!!

22. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

23. Each night before you go to bed complete the following statements: I am
thankful for __________. Today I accomplished _________.

24. Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed.

25. When you are feeling down, start listing your many blessings. You'll be
smiling before you know it.

O Breathe on Me O Breath of God

O breathe on me, O breath of God,
Fill me with life anew,
That I may love the things you love,
And do what you would do.

O breathe on me, O breath of God,
Until my heart is pure,
Until my will is one with yours,
To do and to endure.

O breathe on me, O breath of God,
My will to yours incline,
Until this earthly part of me,
Glows with your fire divine.

O breathe on me, O breath of God,
So shall I never die,
But live with you the perfect life,
Of your eternity.

the Holy Spirit..."
