Fingertip length could be pretty dicey for someone with short arms.

Funny I see this thread today.  I was out shopping a few hours ago and as I was walking back to my car I saw a young woman (20 something) in a very, very short white skirt that would certainly show her cheeks should she drop her keys and stoop to get them.

I didn't notice, but maybe she had short arms.

Yup, that’s pretty much the style...my 16 year old just got her dress for homecoming🙄

I asked her if she was going to wear shorts under it...don’t even get me started on the shoes....

@Anonymous032819  Thanks for the explaination.  I just never heard that term before-tween.  In my world a teen is any person at the age that ends w/teen.  A 12 yr old in my world is considered a pre-teen.

I cringe at the cost of most of the Legos now.  But she's REALLY good at it.  She makes all the really difficult ones.  Hmmmmmm. architect...I never thought of that.  Maybe, I think she'd be great at it.  Thamks!

We went shopping briefly at Dillards.  They have a nice selection (usually).  Right now I think they're inbetween seasons.  We usually agree on dresses and clothing in general.

my daughters usually wore something like the jockey skimmies or a compression athletic short underneath short dresses or skirts. my oldest daughter now loves the susan graver skorts......the skirts with the attached shorts underneath.

yes, the shoes are either flop flops OR skyscraper heels.

I have a granddaughter who is all legs...she is 15 and everything she tries looks way too short...can also make her feel uncomfortable having to fuss with it when sitting down or getting in and out of the car. We just order several “ maybe” dresses from Nordstrom, but sometimes Macy’s, and then pick one after trying them all on and walking, sitting, etc in them. We just take the ones we don’t want back to the local store. We find it much easier than going to the store and having her try them on in a dressing room with the funhouse mirrors. A few inches above the knew should be fine for a tween, whatever age that is, but not thigh-high. That would be inappropriate for a tween I think.

Every mother thinks her daughter is young for her age.  She's 14 and at that age, she should be shopping for her dress with you.  But she should decide what she wants to wear.  Yes, dresses are shorter now.  Models are very tall so when you see them in catalogs, the dresse do look super short.  Dresses that a several inches above the knee are what TEENS generally wear.  At 14, your girl is teenager, not a tween.
