@THEY CallMe Mr Wilkes wrote:As anticipated, the hoarding mentality has already kicked in, even for items where it's unnecessary due to misunderstanding, false reports and bad information. Very sad.
I suppose you believe that monitoring and considering will solve everything.

Cal and my husband went to Costco today and they were not anymore crowded than a normal Tuesday. Hopefully we will not be affected here in the West.
I live about 4 hours from your SIL here in Texas and went to the grocery store after work yesterday. Toilet paper was already on my list since I am down to only three rolls at home. The entire aisle was full of all paper products and the next aisle over was fully stocked with water of all sizes. I only bought my intended usual supply of toilet paper.

@JeanLouiseFinch Longshoremen are not unskilled, off-the-street labor.

That is true but some seem to think the shelves are bare already.

@Shanus wrote:@Maizie Green and others: many of the big box stores have been sending TP and water and other necessary items to NC, TN and other areas hit by Helene.
I have seen tons and tons of TikToks and people show carts loaded up and huge lines waiting to get out the door at Sam's and Costco.
I didn't go to Costco but went to Aldi (which imports a lot) Trader Joe's, Sam's Club and Walmart yesterday and the stores were unusually busy. I belong to several Aldi FB groups and everyone is complaining their store shelves are empty as were the two I went to yesterday.
another thing to think about...when things opened up during Covid my Hobby Lobby told me even though they were getting stuff to restock, a lot had to be thrown out because it was so moldy after sitting on the cargo ships so long.
