@dancingwoman,  I don't consider myself really spooky about what Ancestry or 23andme might do with my info; I wouldn't mind at all if my data was used in research for example. But if I was younger & trying to buy life ins. I might have second thoughts. The "medical" data I got from 23andme was pretty obscure, and all negative, so I don't expect that I'd learn much I could do anything about. If I had children and/or grandchildren, yes, much more useful.

Missy, the tests have numbers so when they are done and filled in, it is not obvious who the people are.

Also, they tell you who else in the database are related and when chatting, they are related. I have met some wonderful relatives through the process. I am currently chatting with a 5th cousin from Germany.
