I read that Disney plans to layoff 28,000 employees due to the closure. I don't think California Disney is open.  It is very sad for the employees.

Yes, Disneyland is still closed. And it doesn't look like the Park will be allowed to open in the near future. That is why Disney had to lay off 28,000. It was explained in a letter that Disney issued yesterday.

I no longer work for Disney. And if I still did, I would have been out of a job on Monday 9/28/20. Sad that so many exceptional people are going to be out of work.

We already have what you are demanding. There are plenty of places with no lockdowns just like you demand. Plenty of children back in schools. If you are right that that's all it takes to make things good again, it should happen very soon.

TN just lifted all restrictions. So I will wait for the magic you've promised. I'd be very happy if it happened, but I see no logical reason to think it would.

Feel free to vacation or relocate to FL or GA or TN where you can bask in the glorious freedom to easily catch a serious disease and where, just like you, no one cares what happens to you.

@Porcelain  Yeah, no, please don't send more people down here who think it's ok that "I gotta be ME". There are plenty here already.

Every day I learn something new about this place we have to call "home". The latest is the influx of MILLIONS that will soon begin as people from all over the US return for their Winter stay here. With them will come what virus situation their state has plus a run on supplies that will drain the stores (I am told). For that reason, one needs to stockpile now especially if things get worse in the next few months. Have to say, considering the numbers NOW here, I'm wondering what more can possibly happen; they're NOT going to shut down anything, believe me. Meanwhile, many of us are stuck in the house because we can't take the risk of catching covid with the majority choosing to "do their own thing".

Disney laying off is sad and yet, so many here discuss all the trips they take/will be taking. Everything is open. People want to work and are ticked off if you don't open your doors. Rumor mill (FB page) is claiming that Disney doesn't want to deal with liability issues so it's cheaper for them to just shut down despite the fact that many will sign an agreement stating they won't sue if they catch COVID at work.

It's a mad, mad world here.

Re: DISNEY LAYOFFS

[ Edited ]

So tired of the hearing people suggest those who want to go out and about and live are being selfish. It's selfish to tell others how they should live. If people feel safe and aren't afraid then they should do what feels right for them. Some poeple these days seem to want to dictate everyone else's lives even where and when they go on vacation. It's appalling. Live your life not everyone else's and stop demonizing others!

@Lali1 Easy to say when you're selfish.

How long are those families supposed to stay locked inside so others can "live their lives" as they want because they can't be bothered to wear a mask...forever? Tell that to someone who has a toddler with an autoimmune disease who can't go anywhere because people who think like you can't be bothered to think of others and maybe, just maybe, show empathy and do something as simple as to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Our numbers in Florida are far worse than you realize (unless you live here and are part of those helping to make the numbers climb). I receive one call a DAY that a student in our high school has been diagnosed with COVID since we opened. We SHOULD be closed but.....that isn't going to happen due to our wonderful Gov. Like I said, you have no idea. But go ahead and do your thang because you want to and that's all that matters.

You lost me at the selfish part. The remainder of your comment I won't bother to read. I hope you feel better about yourself telling others how they should live.

My daughter and family left Orlando a year ago and are glad they did. Unfortunately, they moved to the fires of California, but the news from Florida is heartbreaking. I cannot get overly political on these boards but all I can say is that wishing for economic recovery will not make it so. There are steps we must take, listening to scientists, economists, doctors...in other words, experts. Listening to politicians will just get us into more trouble.

What is the current % of people who recover?  Isn't it like 99%?
