My little stinker, Tracy, learned a new trick!

We got Cricket's blood tests from last week.  Her calcium is too high and phosphorus is too low...probable hyperparathyroidism which is only treated with surgery.   No, won't put her through that at her age.  Not eating.  Vet says probably nauseous and there is a med we will start today for that and hopefully she will eat.  Vet said we are entering the period where decisions will need to be made.  We WON'T let her suffer, although we will suffer.  This next week will be critical.  We honestly wish Cricket would just drift off on her own.  Please keep her in your loving thoughts.

Re: DEER Thursday 07/15/2021

@MamaWick     Awwww, so sorry to hear about Cricket.  It's just not fair that our beloved pets have such short lifespans when we love them so much.  I've been through that more times than I can count.  In 2016, I lost 3 dogs in a four month period.  I know how sad you and dh must be and what a hole there will be in your life when she passes.

You're in trouble with Tracy now that she's discovered the source of all things good.  I see you've literally got her eating out of your hand.

Mama and PapaWick,

I am heartbroken to hear the news about Cricket.  Like you, I hope she just drifts off during her sleep (if she has to go).  It is so difficult to make the decision for our pets not to suffer, but they cannot do that for themselves and we must bravely step forward for them.

Your photos are beautiful and bespeak the loving relationships your family develops with the creatures of this beautiful Earth given to us.

Hugs and much love to Cricket and your family.

Prayers this medication works.

Just a note.  One of my dogs was tiny and 14 when she had surgery.  She came through it with flying colors.  It was much more painful for me, but worth it.

@MamaWick  My thoughts and prayers are with you and Papa Wick at this most difficult time. Cricket has had a happy life and loving humans to care for her.  Even at this point you are thinking of Cricket and not your own heartache. God bless.

@MamaWick

Thank you for your abundant love for animals.  Cricket is so lucky to have loving owners.  You have the right idea about her decline.  Love her, give her the best care possible, but don't put her through extreme procedures that will not extend her life too much anyway.  You will have beautiful memories and you will keep her in your hearts.

Thank you again for the attention and FOOD for our furry wild animal friends.  They know you love them, just like Cricket knows you love her.

 @MamaWick   Love Tracy, so cute!
 I'm sorry that Cricket's tests showed she might need surgery. Maybe the medication will help, maybe a second opinion?
    I stopped my Krypto's dog insurance at about 12 because I wouldn't do chemo or surgery on him. Plus the cost goes up with age. QUALITY of life is important.He lived until 16 1/2 and probably had cancer from the tests we had them run before putting him down. He kept collapsing wouldn't eat except baby food and wouldn't improve. Hardest thing I've ever done!
   Take care! ❤️

Cricket, you look so pretty today -- it must be all that beauty sleep you get!  (Sorry I did read about Cricket at this point but read another reply later on).  The deer are out today and getting the carrot treats.  I am teeling you I just love looking at these animals. You know they are so grateful.  Not only are they getting all these vitamins from the carrots but they will have the  best eyesight.  My dad use to tell me to eat carrots for good eyesight when I was a kid and he was right.  One day cut up some sweet apples for a treat.  That will vitamin C in it @MamaWick .   OMG!  I had 4 front, bottom teeth extracted today.  I am hurting (applying ice).  Once everything heals, I will be receiving a partial on the bottom.  I am too old 71 to pay big money for implants.
