I've been dusting my hosta and Black-eyed Susan's with garlic or onion powder. Seems to do the trick! (Gotta reapply after rain though.)  

 

LOL  "They" say that deer don't like Black-eyed Susan's because the plants are fuzzy.  Not so!

@seehorse   Good to hear you found something that works. I bought deer and rabbit repellent (which is expensive) but seems that didn't work.  Luckily the deer have not touched my Black-eyed Susan's, yet anyway.  This is the first year that destroyed my beautiful hostas.  Fingers crossed they come back next year.
