I was reading articles on the National Enquirer regarding the deaths..One of the artcles stated they had a house guest and they left the day before because Nick was acting very strange.
Nick had been on drugs since the age of 15. They tried to he!p him but nothing was working..They stated the advice they had been given was not helping and they should have listened to Nick.
Another article said they were probably sleeping when they were killed. I had wondered if they were able to defend themselves but that scenario makes sense.
Also, the hotel he rented the shower was full of blood. Apparently, he didn't check in until early in the morning..He was found 15 miles from the crime scene. It is not known how he got to the location.
They had a many articles regarding the family. It was interesting and not some sensationalized media grab.

They are still putting the timeline together, trying to make sense of things.
On tonight's news they showed a video of Nick in a convenience store shortly after the murders. His clothes looked clean and no blood or anything odd ... so how did that happen?
I also assumed they must have been sound asleep when the attack occurred. If they were up, two could at least attempt to overpower one person, right?
One thing that keeps coming to mind is other people who have an addict in their family ... will they always sleep with one eye open after hearing about Nick?
Could just changing their locks be enough?

@Tinkrbl44 He was clean because he had rented a motel. They said the shower was full of blood..
I guess I would change locks and change alarm codes. They could put cameras all over the house. Also, a barking dog might have saved their lives or warned them.

There's no way Nick's lawyer will be ablle to defend by mental or insanity b/c of drugs!
Best thing for Nick is to plead guilty and take a deal !

I think Nick Reiner is a schizophrenic. His actions, including his drug and alcohol abuse sound exactly like schizophrenia. Unfortunately, the medication and therapies used to control the disease have not come very far and the patient has to be religious about staying on the protocol.

Even if he does get off due to insanity he still won't be able to go free. He will just be put in a mental hospital.

I really think that with Nick, there seems to have been a preexisting neurodivergence that he was born with. And it was likely never correctly diagnosed and treated.
Many people are born with faulty wiring and unfortunately, some become addicted to street drugs trying to ease their suffering when nothings else has worked.

The family decided to pay for Nick's attorney from the Reiner estate.
Best case scenario ... in a very bad situation ... is that he spends the rest of his life in a psychiatric facility than a jail where he could hurt or be hurt.

@Lakelife62 being his family is using the trust for his defense, there is more going on than anyone knows. We don't know really what's going except he did have drug issues and mental issues. Mental issues certainly can come from drug addiction, long term. And they definatley can come before drug addiction. My brother is in that catagory. We always noticed something off in teens. Then drug addiction and it was the 60's, so I don't have to tell more than that, lol.
Having helped take care of a mentally ill brother with bipolar/schitzophrenia and a couple other spectrum issues. Nick sure does exhibit some symptoms, off meds. I have watched his interviews years ago, as well as heard a few things he has said. He strikes as having diminished ability to fully realize consequences . I also think he can have delusions. Whether it's drug induced or not, IDK it's inappropriate laughter, gestures. Some people with mental illness are almost narcissistic ! It's me, me, me. Cause it's the world they live in. I see this a lot!!! Even visiting my brother. Maybe he has something totally different IDK, but time will tell. There is a chance we may not know fully. I am not saying this is all true in Nicks case, I am saying it is only what I see. And I could be off base big time. Just speculation dealing with some mentally ill He may spend rest of his life in institution. What a total loss every corner here. For everyone involved.

Is there any credible information anywhere as to which "family member" actually contacted Jackson and retained him?
Everything I can locate says "Nick has hired...." which is highly doubtful. Anyone know who's pulling the strings and sending the dough?
