Re: DAYLIGHT SAVINGS - QUESTION

YES TO DST!!!!  I love having more light in my day, more time to accomplish things and see the sun.

It was awful when I worked and got out of the office in the dark.  I had errands to run, groceries to buy, shopping to do--all in the creepy dark!

I am sad every year because fall itself is gloomy enough without this added to the mix!

Re: DAYLIGHT SAVINGS - QUESTION

I'm all for halting the time changes but would vote for permanent standard time.  This morning sunrise was at 7:56; I'm looking forward to tomorrow's sunrise at 6:57.

As a reminder/FYI:  Amid an energy crisis in 1973, former President Richard Nixon signed a bill putting the U.S. on daylight saving time starting in January 1974. While the American public at first liked the idea, soon "the experiment ... ran afoul of public opinion," The New York Times reported in October 1974. Sunrises that could be as late as 9:30 a.m. some places in parts of winter became increasingly unpopular. It didn't take long for Congress to reverse course in October 1974.

What is good for the goose today will also be good for the gander tomorrow.

Re: DAYLIGHT SAVINGS - QUESTION

So glad our state doesn't participate. The last thing we need in summer is another hour of sunlight. What I hate is all my shows will now be an hour later.

Since retiring, I realize my body functions best on DST.

Re: DAYLIGHT SAVINGS - QUESTION

once again I'm about to experience the weird disconnect of darkness at five pm- yet the weather is in the eighties, grass is green, palm trees swaying. So it seems like it's summer. But it's dark like winter. My brain is about to explode 🤯 😆

Re: DAYLIGHT SAVINGS - QUESTION

Very recently in Great Britain doctors affirmed the position that Standard Time is beneficial to the human body because DST messes with the Circadian Rythm of our bodies.

They advocate for the return to Standard Time on a permanent basis.

I believe that there have been a number of American medical professionals who have expressed the same opinion in recent years.

This differing evidence and opinion is most likely the reason why legislation to make DST permanent has not gained traction.

Hopefully (as a fan of Fall, night, and things traditional...)

we will get the return to a permanent time setting in favor of Standard Time.

Re: DAYLIGHT SAVINGS - QUESTION

I just think no matter what just leave the clocks alone!!  I know back decades ago the time was changed for the farmers and I get that but with the technology that they have today it is not needed.  Please understand.  Thank you all.

Re: DAYLIGHT SAVINGS - QUESTION

I have a problem with kids walking to school in the morning in the dark. It’s ridiculous for it not to be light until 8:30-9AM in some areas of the country.

Does everyone remember we tried permanent DST in 1974 and it didn’t work well over the winter months?
