Is the time change supposed to give us MORE hours of daylight?
I think people (I have heard) say they don't like how dark it gets at, say, 3pm.
Instead of 4 pm?
I don't get it.Sunset here is at 6:30 right now.
@LTT1 The time change gives more light since the sun rises an hour earlier in the MORNING. Moving the time back one hour makes the sun SET earlier in the evening, making it dark quicker.
You will notice a significant difference tonight when it gets dark an hour earlier.

@DrakesMomma wrote:It is a Catch-22 for me. I am a morning person so having the light in the morning is good for me. I've been having trouble sleeping. One of the things my doc suggessted before we try meds is being in morning daylight as soon as I am able after I wake up. Just 10 - 15 minutes. Is it helping? I don't know. On days it is raining or just cloudy I notice a difference on how I feel.
The lack of natural light is the only thing I dislike about the cool weather months.
@DrakesMomma, sounds like some degree of SAD (seasonal affective disorder). It might be helpful to you to change to a full spectrum light bulb in a lamp or overhead light that you are closest to throughout the day. However, you would want to avoid the full spectrum light toward evening so as to not disrupt your sleep schedule.

@LTT1, more hours of daylight is an illusion. There is no factual change in the hours of daylight on either standard time or DST.
The illusion is due to the change in clock time.

Daylight Savings Time is such an outdated concept that we are forced to endure. Getting dark so early is a real pain you know where when it comes to rush hour traffic from work around 5 pm (when it's already completely dark)....especially if it happens to be raining.

LOL ... and the next line .... "Does anybody really care?"
Now that I'm retired, I just roll with it. It's nowhere near the top of my list of annoyances. ![]()

@Marp - The trouble sleeping is most likely related to peri-menopause. Just trying to help myself before taking a pill.

Hi. Daylight Savings Time (spring ahead) is supposed to give us more hours of light.
Going to Daylight Time (fall back 1 hr) and that to the earth's rotation puts us at an angle from the sun that shortens our daylight and it'll be dark all the time.
