He was a two time Olympic gold medal skater and a skating commentator for a long time. The skating world has had a lot of losses this week. May his memory be a blessing

It's so silly that the name gets censored, especially when a person died.
May he rest in peace, he was tough on skaters but I think he just had high standards for skating. He loved the artistry and the choreography.
Yes indeed, a painful week for the figure skating community.

You are so right. I tried to order a Pxxxx Willow one time and they did that to it. Grow up already.

Kind of somber news. He married and divorced a Russian skater. Had to 2 children. This happened at the same time 14 figure skaters perished in the plane crash. We lost some future champions skaters. Two of the youngest were 11 and 14 pair skaters. So sad. This is Russian figure skaters Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov They were world champians in 1996 (I think) They were on the plane.

So sad and ironic timing. May he RIP.
As far as the name being censored, you can always just put a space between the letters. Since certain words are censored automatically, the system doesn't know the context of the sentence.

I remember him fondly. Have been following figure skating since 1960. NY Times obit was very interesting. He was the first to do a "double" axel (now Ilia Malinin is doing quad axels) and the first to do a "triple" jump in competition. Also didn't know that he was a lawyer although he never practiced law.
Also remember his comments about Torville and Dean and their Bolero routine. He said the performance was a "quantum leap" in ice dancing and he was right.
RIP, Mr. Button. I very much enjoyed your commentary.

I haven't been interested in skating since he left the air waves! His comments were wonderful and he made you laugh. He has been and will be missed very much. Don't know how some of his comments would play today, but he was the best! I feel for his family and friends and their loss.

Oh that's sad. I used to enjoy watching & listening to him with Peggy Flemming while commentating for the Olympic ice skaters.
Sorry to hear that he's passed.
