For those of us who enjoy classic rock or are considered 'A generation lost in space...' Enjoy
I guess I’m part of this generation lost in space. Thanks for sharing the video. I’ve been singing this song forever and even saw him perform it once. I’ve always wondered what the lyrics meant through Don’s eyes. The father, son, and the holy ghost? The jester? To name a couple. No I don’t remember the day the music died since I was 6 yr old but I love their music. Just saw LaBamba 2-3 weeks ago. I love music from the 50s even though rock and roll was not allowed in my house.
I think the jester is a reference to Bob Dylan. "While the king was looking down the jester stole his thorny crown" - Dylan becoming more important musically to Don and his generation more than Elvis, the king of rock & roll.

I loved La Bamba the movie! My daughter and I watched a copy of it together, so good but so sad.
I always think what a waste when I hear their music and how they died together. How sad.

I'm sorry you weren't allowed to listen to R&R at home, but I know a lot of parents objected to it at that time. I was kind of amazed my father let me. At that time, the thing I wanted most was my own transistor radio ![]()

I’m not kidding when I say we listened to music on transistors and clock radio but not loud and at friends houses.

Kids will almost always find a way
I remember when straight skirts were in style and girls wore them short. My mother refused to let me hem them up, so as soon as I left the house in the morning, I rolled over the waistband a couple of times.

Thanks for posting the video @jeanlake. I've always liked the song and didn't know all the lyrics meanings.
