@HerRoyaLioness The pattern is also on Pinterest and you can save it. I hope you give it a try. Post any questions if needed and I will answer. Bet you do just great.
@Naturesbeauty I watched the YouTube video on the hat. I bet your friend loved it. It looks comfortable.
I learned to crochet 55 years ago from my husbands Grandmother. She was a sweetheart and a patient teacher. I know she is looking down from Heaven smiling at all I have made over the years.
I would love QVC or HSN bring more crochet and knitting shows back and not as many scrapbooking shows as I don't do that. Homemade items last so much longer than store bought. My husband still wears the winter pullover hat from 40 years ago and my oldest son is 49 and still uses the Afghan I made when he was 12. I did have to add two feet to it recently as he now 6'4" tall. 😃

I just finished a baby Afghan in white and baby blue for my friend. I just started another baby blanket for another friend due in June. This one is in white and aqua.
Here is what it looks like. The pattern is easy and called Blueberry Waffleghan on patternsforcrochet.com.uk. It is easier than it looks. The complete pattern is free on this site.It kept saying my photo was too large no matter how small I made it so this is what the blue looks like. So here is a photo of the stitches up close. Looks great in any color and you can adjust the size. I made a crib size so the baby can use it a long time.
Would love to see what others are making.
Very nice![]()

The weave and color are very pleasing to the eye. I love the trim. I don't crochet. I can knit, but haven't in a while. What I notice is the stitching is very nice and even. How long does it take you to do blanket with trim? How many skeins yarn?

@shoekitty I crochet about 2 hours a day as I am retired. To me it is relaxing and the look on the person I give it to is priceless. My mother always told me it is better to give than receive and she was right.
I made mine just a little larger and used Red Heart Super Saver Jumbo White yarn. I buy two 14 ounce skeins to be sure I always have plenty and don't run out. The contrasting color right now I have is Hobby Lobby Yarn Bee Soft and Sleek and it is Low-Pill Fiber. In the Aqua #300 is a pretty aqua with a slight green undertone. These are 5 ounces and usually 14 ounces is enough for the contrasting color. I bought 6 skeins ($3.99 a skein) which is 30 ounces so if I wanted to make another of this color I will have it on hand. On the Hobby Lobby site photo it looks more aqua than it really is. This is the Hobby Lobby color. This yarn is really soft.
For the blue and white baby afghan I used the Red Heart Super Saver Jumbo white in 14 ounce and bought 2 skeins. They are $6.44 at Walmart and I found in the local Walmart. For the Light Blue it is Red Heart Super Saver 7 ounce skein for $3.44 and I bought 4 but only needed 2. I returned the other two but had them if needed.
I found a Caron Yarn 14 ounce Robins Egg Aqua Color at a local Joann's Store that is a beautiful aqua color but my friend liked the aqua green color for her baby boy blanket so I will make something else with the aqua. This color is not online and it is a true light aqua.
I like the Red Heart white better than the Caron as it is a little softer.
It took me about a month to finish. I do love the trim as it really finishes it off.
Hope this helps.
I hope if anyone makes this they post back.

Knitting and crochet is alive and well
women and men all ages it's out there
Not in my life...I wish I knew someone who could teach me.I asked everyone I knew to knit a baby hat for my son when he was born but nobody could. They purchased one at a gift shop in the hospital.I have tried to learn but I have problems that I need an experts advice.

@dex have you tried watching YouTube videos to learn? I knew nothing about crochet, had never tried, and a few years ago I learned that way. I still can't get the hang of holding the yarn properly lol, but I'm doing it and making nice things.

@VanSleepy @I will try watching videos and see if I can get anywhere.
