I've purchased many sets of Northern Nights sheetsets and they're great. I wanted to purchase a few more sets and they get bad reviews or the prices have skyrocketed. In the past, I've purchased several As-Is sets for my spare bedrooms in size Full - and paid around $50. What's going on with this brand???

I have heard many feel the process of making wrinkle defense sheets has affected them, or the quality has gone down. Wrinkle defense sheets are usually treated with formaldehyde in the process to help them resist wrinkles. I have heard from family that they found them scratchy if not scratchy the sewing in corners on fitted sheet comes undone. Those are the three things I have heard. They have a scratch to them, poor workmanship and reaction. That’s all I know

While I haven't needed to buy sheets recently, all my sheets are Northern Nights wrinkle defense. Love them! I've never found them to be scratchy at all, and the quality has been great. Maybe the quality has changed since I last bought sheets.

I have just discovered a new line of sheets I have never tried; Cozy House Bamboo Blend sheets & am loving them! I too have NN Wrinkle Defense sets that were a lot more $$$ than this new set!

All sheets made of polyester and cotton blends, along with anything permanent press or wrinkle-free, as well as polyester microfiber most likely contain formaldehyde, as well as wrinkle resistent clothing!
Most consumers will probably never have a problem with exposure to formaldehyde, though it can have serious health implications for people who work with the chemical in factories. The biggest potential issue for those wearing wrinkle-resistant clothing can be a skin condition called contact dermatitis. It affects a small group of people and can cause itchy skin, rashes and blisters, according to a recent government study on formaldehyde in textiles.

I wish we could get the old style percale they used to make in the US They were just like silk and never wrinkled . Plus the fitted sheet always fit tight to the mattress, none of this sloppy look

I don't buy perma press, wrinkle resistant sheets. I know people who don't buy them because of the effect on the environment when making them. Myself included. If people want to buy them that is there choice. There are many reasons people not only want, but need a wrinkle proof sheet besides looks.
i myself buy sferra sheets. they have to be all Pima, supima or Egyptian cotton sheets. They use no chemicals or Harmful chemical in the process of their sheets. They do not use a fabric finish either. They are expensive but I use them till they get holes, which is about 7 years depending on how I swap them out.
also, personally I do not like the feel of a wrinkle resistant sheet. I think we all are picky about the feel of our sheets. I like at least a 600tc white 100% cotton sheet as I said. It has to be long continuous staple. I iron them. My sheets also have to be slightly crisp, but a smooth hand. Like satin to the touch. In other words I close my eyes, run my palm slowly over sheet. and better not feel a weave! LOL!,, I also do not buy real soft, limp sheets no matter TC. Lol. Sheet snob here. My granddaughter hates crispy sheets, she says they keep her up at night. Lol
every sheet is different. No TC is a like! One 400tc cotton sheet is never like another sheet of same tc.

It's interesting that you've brought up the topic of the chemicals. There are a lot of issues going on with work uniforms that are made of material treated with all sorts of chemicals. There has been testing done and it's quite frightening what they found. It's not just external issues on your skin. People have all sorts of other internal issues as well. It's eye opening for sure.
