My MIL wore a full length, full skirted, off-white, all lace gown - like a wedding gown. Complete with picture hat (in style back then my bridesmaids wore them) with a netting wrap and large bow on the back.

Considering she lectured me that my mom couldn't wear white or off-white because that would be considered poor manners - like we didn't know this already.

Oh boy- that would burn me. My MIL me what my mother was wearing and I said "I dunno, knowing her, probably black!" because that's always what she wore for formal occasions. I was only kidding, she wasn't planning black, but she was having a horrible time finding a dress. My MIL went nuts and said black was for mourning and it was inappropriate and to make certain she didn't wear black, etc. My MIL told me she was wearing a "lovely cranberry dress." Later- at the wedding, I found out why she freaked at the possibility of MY mother wearing black and that's because SHE was wearing a black Carmen Miranda style dress!! So much for the "cranberry" one I heard about for months.

omg - I hope she didn't have a fruit hat on, too!

I forgot to mention she also had a matching parasol. {#emotions_dlg.blink}
