As others pointed out correctly,  there has always been inflation.   There will always be inflation.

The average price of a movie ticket in 1938-1939 was 25-30 cents.

If you've seen a list of top domestic box office grossing films of all time, adjusted for inflation, "Gone With the Wind" would basically top most lists at nearly $1.9 billion.

Your ticket price isn't dropping to 30 cents.  That's inflation.

The Beatles knew Prudence.

They wrote a song about her..."Dear Prudence." Smiley Happy

I wonder if it is the same Prudence.

Possibly. The lyrics seem to be on the level.....

Dear Prudence, won't you open up your eyes?

I'm not sure it's ever going away. It's called greed. A few weeks ago I got eggs for around $1.09, now they are closer to $3.00 again  Pet food is over the top.I've given up buying some things due to cost.

I bought eggs today, @catter70 , and they were $4.34/doz. You did good!

I don't care much about the DOW, etc., if the price of eggs is $4. something.

And to make matters worse: there is shrinkflation. You pay much more and get much less.

@febe1 So true!  They had a segment on shrinkflation on the news. Price sky high and you get much less.  Some one was saying that McDonald's fish sandwich is the size of a slider and the price is over $5.  It's all greed.
