Here are a couple of winters poems that I wrote years ago.

                                Snowflake

         Uniquely designed, crystalline gem;

           More precious than diamonds carved by men.

         Exquisitely formed, delicate symmetry;

           Each one a masterpiece passing unseen.

                                 Winter Silver

                       The lonely oak stands

                          before the gray winter sky,

                        with its bare arms outstretched

                          to touch the silver winter moon.

                       The empty lilac bush

                          gently sways in the wind,

                        its branches glistening

                           with silver drops of winter rain.

                       Each blade of grass brown and dry,

                          choked by the icy fingers of winter,

                       has a jewel all its own;

                           a drop of silver winter rain.

@On It   Thank you very much. There is another winter one that I'll post later.  I also have written some darker ones, I don't know if those would be appreciated.

@Enufstuff,

I think dark poems can be good too-sharing the hard times, makes us not feel alone, knowing others have them too. We wouldn't be human if we didn't.

@Enufstuff  Wow! You perfectly captured Winter in your poems! Aren't snow flakes amazing? They're so small and so intricate- you captured their beauty and complexity in the snowflake poem.  Oh "Winter Silver"- such a lovely poem.  I love the imagery of the lone oak tree reaching its bare branches to the moon.  The beauty of the lilac bush swaying in the wind and the rain drops adorning the lilac petals. Oooh and the brown and dry grass "choked by the icy fingers of winter"- that really is such an amazing line- it really showcases the brutality of winter.  Your winter poems show the beauty and harshness of the cold.  Wonderful!
