Most of us from time to time get requests for feedback about service we have received at a business, medical office, or other.
I got a request about my hair services received at my Ulta. I have gone to the same stylist for 2 years. My reply was postiive about the lady but I had some thoughts about the salon itself. Since the remodel, they no longer have a "reception desk" for the salon or a separate check out area. The stylist often had to answer the phone and handle walk up questions and appointment requests.
Today, my stylist started by saying that she owed me an apology. She said she was told that I complained that the she did not give full attention to the guests. I explained to her what I had said. I also reminded her that if I was not happy with her I would not be setting in her chair. She seemed ok after we talked.
I was very unhappy that my review was not confidential and that my remarks were misrepresented. I know who is the salon manager and I am considering telling him this story.
On line reviews are not confidential.

@granddi I may be wrong but I thought most all of our feedback is NOT confidential. We have to enter our user name we created to leave a review on QVC and HSN. On a rare occasion I complete a survey, it will state it's confidential but an actual feedback or review has your email and/or name.
I really don't think you should worry that they knew it was you. Seems like the stylist wanted to do her best and first thing she did was apologize and want to make things right. This seems like a conscientious employee.

@cjm61 I said nothing on the review that I would not have said out loud. I was annoyed that my remarkes were misrepresented.
The lady told me that the stylist were interviewed and asked about their concerns or suggestions. The corporate rep told her nothing was going to change, it was just her job to talk to the employees.

@granddi What were you "setting" in her chair?

It would bother me that your review seemed to be taken the wrong way and the treatment of your hair stylist. I would speak with your hair stylist the next time you have an appointment before you approach someone about this. I would hesitate in order to protect your stylist from getting into any trouble. They seem to have blamed her the first time and probably wouldn't like more feedback and take it out on her. I stopped going to Ulta. Took my daughter there for a hair style and make up for her senior portraits. Was told hair would cost $35 and makeup $60 (the prices were quoted from the people who actually did the hair and make up). I was charged $75 for hair and $80+for make up.

These requests seem to be increasing lately. I won't do them. If I have an issue I will make direct contact.
I totally think they will use your contact information. Lord knows, they know enough already.

This is exactly why I do not participate in those things!!! I can't trust that what I say will be confidential or that it won't be misconstrued or that it won't be used against someone. All of that happened in your case and it probably negatively affected that stylists performance review. It's unfortunate but you will only make things worse for her by speaking to the manager. The manager will only think that your stylist asked you to try and fix things for her. Let it go.

I always respond to them. I'm treated well so my responses are positive concerning employees. I like the opportunity to counter any unkind comments left by other responders.

I have to agree with @chrystaltree . I wouldn't speak to the salon manager about this. It's just going to keep it going.
You've talked with your stylist and explained the situation. She knows that you didn't speak negatively about her so all is well on that front.
I don't respond to these feed back surveys but I didn't know that it wasn't confidential.
It's a shame that you can't give your honest opinion without worrying about it effecting someone in a negative way.
