There is no way to avoid collateral damage whilst fighting a war. With this enemy, it is even harder because these cowards who supposedly want to die for Allah, hide behind the skirts of women and children.

The Pres, media and pundits are now saying that the middle east strife is all America's fault. I do not think that is entirely true.. Why do so many media say this? It is bull.
While I am here let me ay that I do not think we should send boots over there when the middle east is doing FOR THEMSELVES nothing to speak of. Right now, today, it is their problem, probably soon to be ours and that is when we should fight a war. ISIS wants more than anything to wipe us out...the GREAT SATAN. We should not spend our treasure now...treasure being our men and women.

All good points indianarose. I can't get into right now because the whole thing makes me angry. I feel so sorry for all the countries that have to deal with the displacement of so many people many of them strong, young men who will do what with their lives? It's a scary thought. Either displacing the locals for jobs or being on the public dole or ???

REALLY! So our military will begin beheading/burying children alive and lighting people in cages on fire?
I see your comparison of any and everyone that has ever worn a United States Military Uniform as an insult to all of them, of which I am one.
DISGUSTING!!!!

Clearly you need to re-read my post, which said nothing about beheading, burning or anything else of the sort. Nor did I say anything about anyone serving/having served in the US military.
Well, @Maudelynn, you didn't have to SAY it, you IMPLIED it when you said "we become EXACTLY like those we wish to inhialate (sic)."
Do you fit into the category of not worrying about collateral damage? Our enemies don't care about collateral damage. If we didn't how are we different?

Remember the carpet bombing in Ruen, Normandy? 15,000 French civilians were killed there. Horrific, but we defeated Nazis.
Many examples like this, but this war is much more difficult and the world let that happened, the enemy is everywhere and we have to do what we have to do.
Period.
I agree.
And there is something important missing today, the understanding that there are things that have to be done for the greater good. That would be the greater good of humanity. It won't be easy but eviscerating evil never is.....
And this is exactly the ideology of the enemy. How does this thinking make us any better than them?
We are fighting for good, for the right to ultimately live peacefully and without fear and to be free........ and they are fighting for evil, for their right to kill whomever they wish, for the right to suppress free religion, suppress women, mutilate genitals, honor killings.....
There comes the point where we have to decide if we want to live like that! Their radical ideology doesn't even co-exist in their own part of the world. They can't even get along with their own sects. So the decision to eradicate what is obvious evil goes well beyond ideology.... even our Christian beliefs won't save us from this horror unless we make the decision to stop it. And we can't possibly stop it by turning the other cheek..... they'll lop of the heads of those doing so.
So, perhaps we won't be better than them by getting rid of them.... BUT the world will end up safe, free, and without the fear of being blown up whilst seeing a concert, running a marathon or flying in a plane.
It's well worth it to me.....

They also believe they are fighting to rid the world of evil. They also believe they are fighting on the right side. The difference is, they don't care who they kill to fulfill their idea of what is right. We do. Thank goodness.

I do not read every post on these forums. I do other things in my life. If my post was redundant, do forgive me please as I forgive you for your insensitivity.

If we're not willing to accept any collateral damage, then we have to sit back, do nothing, and let ISIS take over the world (yes, that's their goal and they won't stop until they do), killing anyone who won't convert to their point of view. A few might be lucky and be taxed for not converting but will be allowed to live. At least we'll die, convert, or pay tax knowing we caused no damage. Doing nothing is a choice we can make, but we need to recognize and accept what the consequences will be.
Isn't that what our Government is doing anyway?
