I don't think any of the candidates are "using" this issue to "help" their campaigns. As a voter, I find their opinions on this topic to be most helpful to me to help narrow the choices of whom I might vote for. I would find it disconcerting if they purposefully avoided the topic. That would be a deal-breaker for me.

They'd better know because one of them is going to inherit this mess. It's important that candidates think about it now and present some kind of strategy (which will change as the situation changes).   Voters need to know where the candidates stand re: terrorism.  A candidate who fails to address this will not get my vote.

I'm pretty sure that all of the candidates are against terrorism, and as every president discovers, you can't  always do what you want. I afraid I don't  have faith that most of these

candidates are not above using this issue to their advantage .

Unfortunately, there is no way to wage a war (to win) without colateral damage.  History has been very clear about it.

Now if a country is waging a political war with winning not necessarily the end result, then yes, technically you can wage a war (not necessarily to win) and not have colateral damage by virtue of careful surgical strikes.

I personally do not believe in waging war unless it's the absolute last resort... and only if the country is committed to winning it.

Collateral damage is a very unfortunate reality of any war.

Remember the carpet bombing in Ruen, Normandy? 15,000 French civilians were killed there. Horrific, but we defeated Nazis.

Many examples like this, but this war is much more difficult and the world let that happened, the enemy is everywhere and we have to do what we have to do.

Period.

I agree.

And there is something important missing today, the understanding that  there are things that have to be done for the greater good.   That would be the greater good of humanity.  It won't be easy but eviscerating evil never is.....

And this is exactly the ideology of the enemy. How does this thinking make us any better than them?

You can wage a war that way but, you will NEVER win a war unless you let your military do what they were trained to do and that is fight to win.  You don't send them into war with their hands tied behind their backs with the PC idiocy that abounds today, especially during the last 7 years.  IMO, we live in a world of make believe and I just hope   This country wakes up before it's too late but, I have to say that I'm not very hopeful of that happening.  Listening to the news, I'm convinced we are in extremely critical condition as a nation.

You hear so much talk about colateral damage or the loss of lives.  Do you realize how many isis has killed???  Not just Christians but Muslims or anyone who gets in their way. They have killed a tremendous amount of Muslims, too...you know.  Do you realize how many people died under Stalin and Hitler for the lack of "not wanting to get involved"  or just "not knowing".  We know about this holocaust now.  They are commiting genocide, people.  They won't stop until someone stops them.  Are we going to let them wipe out every person on this earth they can get their hands on that does'nt agree with them?  There is at least one city in the Middle East that has 0 population now....that I know of.  Probably more by now.

Does this not count as "colateral" damage?
