Collateral damage is a very unfortunate reality of any war.

Remember the carpet bombing in Ruen, Normandy? 15,000 French civilians were killed there. Horrific, but we defeated Nazis.

Many examples like this, but this war is much more difficult and the world let that happened, the enemy is everywhere and we have to do what we have to do.

Period.

I agree.

And there is something important missing today, the understanding that  there are things that have to be done for the greater good.   That would be the greater good of humanity.  It won't be easy but eviscerating evil never is.....

And this is exactly the ideology of the enemy. How does this thinking make us any better than them?

If we're not willing to accept any collateral damage, then we have to sit back, do nothing, and let ISIS take over the world (yes, that's their goal and they won't stop until they do), killing anyone who won't convert to their point of view.  A few  might be lucky and be taxed for not converting but will be allowed to live.  At least we'll die, convert, or pay tax knowing we caused no damage.  Doing nothing is a choice we can make, but we need to recognize and accept what the consequences will be.

Holy Cow OP, you waited until the moderators deleted all the posts in another thread that referred to collateral damage and then started one up specifically about that issue?

What is it you are hoping to accomplish with this thread now? I think we all got a pretty good idea of how people feel on war and its consequences.

There is no touchy-feely easy way to fight evil forces. If there were, by now after centuries of fighting, someone, somewhere would have come up with it.

here's a good article to read:

I'm done with P.C. Just say what you mean and mean what you say. It's easier.

How ironic Israel has  repeatedly faced bombing from the gaza strip but for the Iron Dome they would be no more. Any attempt to stop this has brought nothing but condemnation from the west. Hamas has moved their launchers into populated areas housing schools and hospitals so that Israel would be blamed for collateral damage to the innocent. I guess though when the west does this its ok because its the west and those lives matter and it is do as I say not as I do. SMH.

If I am not mistaken, the USA warns the general populations that we are coming and to plan accordingly.  Don't know if any other country does that.  We drop flyers, and warn openly that we will be by to 'visit'.

Only in certain circumstances is that done. Populated areas are usually avoided and targets are verified as best as can be done.

Have you ever seen a footage of "collateral" victim getting up from his coffin in the middle of his  staged funeral and run together with the camera crew because the Israeli soldiers would roll in?  It is hysterical!!!

******** Israel does what it has to to to protect it's people.  They are forced to do it and I, for one, hold no ill will towards them for that.  I am just sorry and ashamed that we have made that harder for them.  Many of us know they don't want to kill innocents but have been forced into it to save their people and country.

At least it is a consideration.  We do do this more than is known. Oh, but the bleeding hearts call it something else.
