We all have different thoughts. If I were trapped in a room with nothing  but rocks I would use them.

People keep trying to make this out to be the solution to school shootings rather than a way to survive should they be in that situation.  Children end up in dangerious situations everyday.  Schools have fire drills, earthquake/tornado drills and now active shooter drills.  Being prepared to deal with these situations is an important part of life.

Someday, when scientists discover the center of the Universe....some people will be disappointed it is not them.

How can you hide in a classroom with a shooter in the doorway?

Big talk. But only talk.

Even heavily trained law enforcement miss more than they hit. You're going to open fire into a melee of panicked kids and miraculously hit the gunman only, with one shot. Because that's all you're going to get. One shot.

Fantasy. Pure fantasy.

Re: Classrooms are armed with a bucketful of rocks

maybe a little off topic but...yesterday DS and i took the grandkids to the city to see the Easter bunny at the mall and have lunch....they wanted McDonalds because there is none where we live and it is a rare treat for them. In the play area for the little kids were several creepy looking teenagers. They were blocking the slide so the little kids could not play. I very politely asked them to move, they did not. They saw me a walk over to Ds and tell him what was going on. DS walked into the play area, I guess the teens just knew what might happen and they left the building. So glad we don't live in the city...

Under a desk or coat room? I would not stand there throwing rocks and making myself a target.

Viable solutions are what is necessary. This rock thing solves nothing.

The kids that did that at columbine were killed. They were just sitting ducks. A desk offers no protection at all

Did he flash a weapon at them?

I'm glad you don't live in the city too.
