maybe a little off topic but...yesterday DS and i took the grandkids to the city to see the Easter bunny at the mall and have lunch....they wanted McDonalds because there is none where we live and it is a rare treat for them. In the play area for the little kids were several creepy looking teenagers. They were blocking the slide so the little kids could not play. I very politely asked them to move,they did not. They saw me a walk over to Ds and tell him what was going on. DS walked into the play area, I guess the teens just knew what might happen and they left the building. So glad we don't live in the city...

Did he flash a weapon at them?

I'm glad you don't live in the city too.

@fourpaws56

In reality, their bus probably pulled up.

The kids that did that at columbine were killed. They were just sitting ducks. A desk offers no protection at all

Well rocks won't save a child either. My husband is a Retired Marine who thought I was joking when I mentioned rocks were suggested by some school administrator and it could save lives. Anyone familiar with firearms would understand that.

That comment to @fourpaws56 was very rude and uncalled for.

It might not work but I would rather go down fighting than just waiting to be shot @Trinity11.. Some might be able to escape..If I thought I were going to die anyway, I would at least try to give another person a chance to get away..

I disagree. This thread has everything to do with gun control.  The OT post was put on this thread and as such is open for comment.

No ,a great idea is to put armed gaurds in the school, and spend money to protect these kids, instead of just taking a chance it won't happen...We have seen this replayed over and over again, and it always ends the same way

Re: Classrooms are armed with a bucketful of rocks

I believe it is scary for kids not knowing if some nut is going to come to school and start shooting up.  I am proud of all these kids that are marching and protesting and letting everyone know enough is enough.  Something needs to be done at all schools to keep children safe.

Re: Classrooms are armed with a bucketful of rocks

Does anyone really think that a rock (or multiple rocks) thrown by a kid (or an adult) has an equal velocity to that of a bullet (or multiple bullets) fired from a high-powered rifle?

Not to mention aim accuracy.

It is indeed a very, very sad day when we think that this is the best we can do in our kids' defense.

Re: Classrooms are armed with a bucketful of rocks

No one feels this is the best that can be done. It is a desperate attempt to try to save the lives of children, trapped in a  locked school room if it should be  broken into by a gunman...
