My "older" relatives kept paper money hidden between the pages of books......

I find money also in pockets.  Not all that much but probably what I got as change and I could not get to my wallet. 

But what annoys me about pockets is my hubby living tissues and I never think to empty the pockets before I wash his pants or jeans.  Shredded paper everywhere in my washer and then dryer. It sticks to the other clothing.

I would like to thank the US Mint. It seems that paper money washes so nicely. And many times it floats to the top of the clothing in the washer, all nice and clean.

It's such a nice surprise to put on last year's coat and find some cash. This year was a $5.00 bill and silver😁.

I discovered my mother's safe hiding place. She had $5000 rolled up in the pockets.

Thankfully, we didn't donate the coat and the money.

My mother died when she was 62. She signed up for SS, but it took months before her first check came.( 41 years ago) The first check was big....many months of payments. The money was " lost." My father knew she had the money, but then couldn't find where she put it before she passed.

It was about two years later when I found it in the pocket. I am sure my mother put my two sisters up to insist that I try on a coat that I disliked.
My father was surprised where it was hidden. He never could outsmart my mother.

Not pockets, but have found money in old purses, wallets, and one time under the rug behind our bed - I had stashed it there after a yard sale and completely forgot about it!

I've found a stray bill on occasion. Usually $20 or less.

As to the older generation stashing money in their house this a a lulu.

My one uncle by marriage went to visit his widowed Mother. Mom had just moved in with her daughter/uncle's youngest sister. No on else was home, she ushered him into her room and the bed was covered in cash to the tune of $60,000.00. She wanted him to help her find a hiding spot. He did, a bank.
