I just received a call at dinner from a Chase Representative stating there was some unusual activity on my Debit Card. At first, I didn't believe her and would not give my social security number. They wanted to verify if I in fact did make these charges. Nope, not me.
We went through a series of security questions and OK they are who they say they were. Apparently some people tried to use my card via internet charities but did not have any security code number. The card was never lost. We closed it and opened another. I changed over my Easy Pay's on Q to a credit card while I wait for my new debit and then I called CHASE back with the phone number on my card and confirmed, yes they did contact me and all is correct.
I wanted to make sure my pending charges which I had checked on line, will in fact be paid. Whew...I HATE internet crime!
So just a heads up to everyone. I don't know if this has anything to do with the recent events in Japan but these were internet "charities"...There must be a lot of activity going on in Bank Fraud Divisions. If you receive a call like this one, just make sure you call the number on the back of your card.
