Daily Positive Thread for Tuesday

There is always something to thank God for. Lord, may my attitude of
gratitude last a lifetime.

S C R I P T U R E F O R T H E D A Y

"O give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love
endures forever." ~Psalm 106:1

M E D I T A T I O N F O R T H E D A Y

Gratitude to God is the theme of Thanksgiving Day. The pilgrims
gathered to give thanks to God for their harvest which was pitifully
small. When we look around at all the things we have today, how can we
help being grateful to God? Our families, our homes, our friends; all
these things are free gifts of God to us. "But for the grace of God,"
we would not have them. God gives us this day too, to rest and to give
thanks.

P R A Y E R F O R T H E D A Y

I pray that I may be very grateful today. I pray that I may not forget
where I might be but for the grace of God.

Greetings to all you positive pals and grateful gals!! Hope your day went well and you received many blessings along the way! Here today I made some plans for tomorrow night - it's Linus' birthday and he'll never expect this, but when Ann called today, and she's off today and tomorrow, I invited them over for supper and they can come and surprise him. They'll come about 15 min. after Linus gets home. She'll bring a salad and some wine! I'm making one of his favorite dishes - beef patties - a real old favorite. That with some boiled potatoes and some green beans, and her salad and some wine - it should be nice. Lori works until 7:30 - then she'll stop over too. But it's supposed to snow and be bad out - darn! Maybe it can hold out a bit longer. We'll see. At least our friends don't live far from us. Lorraine is still in the hospital, had biopsies today, they still don't know yet.
Let's keep the prayers going.

Short Meditation:

Out of His Anguish…Light

Jesus suffered agonies I cannot imagine.
Yet, out of his suffering, I am forgiven and receive eternal life.
Isaiah tells us Jesus has found “satisfaction” in what he has done.
He is happy to have saved me!
Has there ever been such a love as this?

from Catholic Update, “Day by Day Through Lent: Fasting From Our Clutter”

Mother Teresa Said...
Our ideal is no one but Jesus.
We must think as He thinks,
love as He loves,
wish as He wishes;
we must permit Him to use us to the full.

A Bigger Frying Pan

Two men went fishing. One man was an experienced fisherman, the other
wasn't. Every time the experienced fisherman caught a big fish, he put it
in his ice chest to keep it fresh. Whenever the inexperienced fisherman
caught a big fish, he threw it back. The experienced fisherman watched this
go on all day and finally got tired of seeing this man waste good fish. "Why
do you keep throwing back all the big fish you catch?" he asked.

The inexperienced fisherman replied, "I only have a small frying pan."
Sometimes, like that fisherman, we throw back the big plans, big dreams, big
jobs, big opportunities that God gives us. Our faith is too small. We laugh
at that fisherman who didn't figure out that all he needed was a bigger
frying pan; yet how ready are we to increase the size of our faith?

Whether it's a problem or a possibility, God will never give you anything
bigger than you can handle. That means we can confidently walk into anything
God brings our way.

You can do all things through Christ (Philippians 4:13).

Nothing is too big for God. Stop telling God you've got big problems, but instead tell
your problems to a big God!

NO MORE SECRETS

"Nothing is concealed that will not be revealed, nor secret that will
not be known." – Matthew 10:26

My mom and I were at the supermarket doing our weekly shopping for
food and other supplies. Just as we were checking out after paying for our purchases,
we saw an uncle of mine. Mom was about to call him but stopped in mid-sentence. Then I
realized why. My uncle was with another woman, definitely not my aunt, with a 10-year-
old boy in tow. No doubt they were a family. My uncle's second family, that is. I
wondered if my aunt knew.
Meanwhile, my mom was way ahead of me — she wanted to tell my aunt
about my uncle's secret as soon as we got home.

No secret can be kept hidden forever — especially with God. Secrets
have an uncanny way of revealing themselves at the most unexpected times and unlikely
places. If you think nobody's looking while you indulge in your clandestine affair, think
again.
At Judgment Day, there will no longer be secrets. As we come before
our Maker, I imagine there'll be a big screen where our entire life will be shown for
everyone to see. Every emotion, every action, every thought and every deed will be revealed.
Dina Pecaña

REFLECTION:
Are there secrets you think you can hide from the Lord?

Lord, may You flood the dark recesses of my secret life with the light
of Your truth.

Our Relationship With God:

Dear Lord,

Our relationship with you is usually like this:

Just another day for me - plenty of things to do
Go to work, come home late, nothing really new

Sat in bed put my head to rest grabbed my mobile phone
About to call my girlfriend now to tell her I loved her so

But before I had the chance to phone I received an incoming call
I had to look twice at the Caller ID to see if I was sure

It was a friend of mine his name was John an odd call at this time
We haven´t spoken for years, busy I guess, we're all guilty of this crime

What does he want? I thought to myself, a favour he must need
So I answered the phone and said hello, the rest I'll let you read

Minutes went by, no favour so far, maybe I could be wrong
But there it was - the favour he needs - I knew it all along

That’s the reason why he called me today - I guess we all do the same
Its only when we need something that we look to find their name

That’s the relationship we have with God - sad but it is true
We have to change the way we think - a message for me and you.

Closing Prayer: How about this one again?

A PRAYER FOR AMERICA
Father, we beg Your blessing for the Right to Life, the Unborn, the weak, the sick and the old; all who are finding themselves being targets of the vicious culture of death; that our Lord Jesus bless and protect all who stand up for the Christian dignity of persons. That God enlighten those who are traveling down death's highway by their involvement, in any way, with either the contemporary death culture, selfism, relativeism, or any of the new age errors of our times, that God envelop our culture with His Divine protection and help us both individually and as a nation to true enlightenment, conversion and repentance of our selves and our culture. Help us to turn from our national sin of abortion, and return to, and once again become a Christian nation, on the narrow road, that is, the path to becoming a nation and culture, under God. Amen.
