Am I the ONLY person here who thinks there's a large grey area when it comes to deletions?

There have been several threads poofed that made no sense ... to me.    And while I understand not "challenging" posts, sometimes it would be nice to know exactly what the problem was, in order to avoid it in the future.

I've also seen topics started and later deleted.   Perhaps another poster  would really like to discuss a current big news story, and carefully words the topic to be absolutely within all guidelines .... and it gets poofed anyway.  Maybe they never saw the first poofed thread, so, to them, it's a new topic.   Poof.

And yes, I do agree with others here that there is inconsistency with the mods at times.

Rant over.   I'm done.  lol      Woman LOL

Thanks for that info!

Yes, I will make sure I begin saving posts, just in case!

Either that, or I need to start posting off my laptop. Much easier than when I try to 2 finger punch my tablet! They typos I make just drive me insane, though I try to catch and correct most. Lol I just do not get how kids text allllllllll the time off of their teeny cell phone keyboards. Gives me a headache...

Ok, I better quit rambling here....I think I may be violating the No hijacking threads or NO off topic rules! 😲 (not quite sure what this emoticon means, lol)

Thanks again for your help!

Thanks to you, too, @moonchilde !

I just now saw your post. Uh oh....I just posted a link to a blog about The Mother in ACV...errrr, don't ask. Lol. She doesn't sell anything, but I will go deactivate the link anyway, to be safe. Thanks! Smiley Happy

You're welcome, @Wannabeincali!    Regarding your other post with the link...  I looked, and she does sell her cookbooks on her site so that link (and the post) probably is in danger of being deleted.    When I post links, I look to be sure there's no "shop," "store," shopping cart icon, or tabs for selling any kind of merchandise -- if the site has any of those things, I post the info the way @Moonchilde described.

As you and others know, the problem is often not the OP - the original post/topic - or the Original Poster, but others posting in the thread.  Any two or more people can get a thread deleted pretty quickly - and often do; some for lolz, some because their Daily Thing is challenging every rule here, one by one 🙀 because, to paraphrase the commercials, "that's what they do."

As long as QVC forces the moderators to consider individual threads only, and doesn't want any notations of pattern of intent, grudge posts and the like, and as long as the moderators cannot act/interfere in more than each individual post, or thread, the "uneven moderation" is largely a product of that, IMO.

Ohhhmagawwwwd. Aaaargh. I thought I checked her site thoroughly. Good grief, lol.

I just deleted the link. Thanks for the heads up!

Darn.....last time I checked, my vision was 20/20, but??  Grrrrr. Lol  Smiley Happy

I believe at least once a day someone comes back with a subject post that was deleted by a moderator.

I really believe there are posters that don't know the standards of what is allowed and what isn't.

It would be a great addition to add a forum subject so it's front and center for all to read of what is allowed and what isn't.  I would suggest replace the My Favorite Brand title with Community Standards/Guidelines.  I would also suggest that these standards are listed and there's no opportunity to post anyone's views/opinions.  Just the rules and nothing but the rules.

How many posters will read them?  It's like the students I teach. Some will always break the rules.

This is so true, @GSPgirl!    Even so...  I'm surprised at the number of posters over the years who have mentioned they either never reviewed the standards for participation and the guidelines for posting, or said they didn't know the policies existed.   I've also seen some who think other forums don't have a list of guidelines for their members...   I don't think I've ever looked at any board that had no rules for their posters.

Would someone point out to me where the rule is stated that we CANNOT post links to websites where things are sold? I looked through the Welcome forum's rule listings, but could not find it. ?

I can understand rules about No bullying, No foul language, No political talk, No religious arguments,  NO constantly cruel dissing of certain qvc hosts, etc etc.

I can even maybe understand NO links to other estores that sell similar merchandise to that sold on QVC.

BUT what I found really horrible was that a Mod DELETED my entire Pet Lovers post, where I was trying to help a member who had a dog suffering from KIDNEY DISEASE.

I had a ton of info, all related to either KIDNEY DOG SUPPORT AND INFO GROUPS ONLINE, or links to recipes andmsupplements for either a RAW or a homeCOOKED diet. Nothing was related to purchasing kibble or canned food, which QVC does not even sell anyway! My infraction was that the link to the Dog Recipes Wellness Newsletter was on a website that sold dog supplements on another part of the site.

And for THIS, my entire post was DELETED? Really?? Wow. I do not even think the dog owner even had a chance to see my post! Smiley Sad It may have really helped her dog!!  I am still so upset over this. Ugh

I am new to the qvc forums, but not to forums in general. I am all for Rules, but they need to be based on common sense. Why not just NOTIFY me to ammend my post? Or, why not just DELETE the "offensive" portion, but leave the critical, HELPFUL info in the post?

If I had been posting about some superficial issue (makeup, body butters, hair care, fashion --- all topics I love to dish about), then OK, spank me for "not following/breaking" the ridculous rule. And I say ridiculous becuase many posters remark about NON qvc products, but their posts remain simply because they did not include a link to it? Huh? Are we that stupid that one cannot then just google the product? So are we being punished for offering convenience? Lol I am upset over this not just because I post off a tablet, which is not easy when you are posting lots of info!, but rather because I feel so SAD that a post I made to HELP someone with an ILL PET....got DELTED over nonsense!

If Qvc would have a personal messaging option, this would have been a moot point, perhaps.....if I had saved a copy of my post...which I guess I should start doing.

Ok, rant over.

If someone could just point me in the direction of this Golden Rule which I am guilty of not following, I would greatly appreciate it. Smiley Happy

Thanks!

@Wannabeincali Sorry this happened to you. Something similar happened to me and I pointed out to the moderator that the effort was to help someone by advising them of a health-related product that was not sold on QVC and interestingly enough they put back the post, which was appreciated... I don't know but maybe the 'no retail links' are under Standards rather than under Welcome/Getting Started and I have long felt that all the 'rules' should be in one place. I agree with the post that indicated maybe they should be at the top of the page rather than at the bottom and, again, I think they should combine the rules found under Welcome/Getting Started with those found in Standards, so there is one consolidated list, lengthy though it most definitely would be...

You make valid points @Tinkrbl44... and I also think they're sometimes a bit precipitous in closing a thread to further commenting...

Some of the explanations given, too, for taking action are so general as to be sort of 'pat' and unhelpful... I guess it's not a big deal because, well, 'when it's gone it's gone'... and it clearly appears there's not usually much we can do about it...

They need to make it easier to read the standards by adding a space between each rule and using a larger font. Also, if new rules are added or an old rule is amended they need to bring that to our attention.

I think one day each month we should be allowed to talk about anything.
