I can't say I resented having to do it, just annoyed that I had to take a few minutes from my day to do it.

Thank goodness my grandparents filled out these these forms. My family and I were searching our family history on Ancestry Dot Com and thru the census records we found out a lot of information. I am really into this and enjoy finding out things. Since my grandparents came from Italy we also used the site Ancestry to find out when they arrived here thru Ellis Island. The ship manifests have a lot of info. It's something to do during the winter with my husband.

No, I don't resent it. It's my duty as a citizen to provide the nation with demographics and useful information. It's not as if they are asking for my bank account number. AND, I have to second what tishkins pointed out. The census has been a great help in my genealogy research. They only release 20 or 30 year old census files once every ten years, so I always anxiously await the next release to see what other pertinent information there is on my family history.

circles.... I believe that there are benefits, behind the scenes, that we are not informed about.... money for our state's education from the federal govt based on our population etc. so I fill out these papers.... there are also 3 counties in the US that are going to do it digitally this year.... so maybe, in the future, you will be allowed to do it online....

"Just like we can’t survive without roads and bridges, the country doesn’t function well without an updated Census to distribute funds to areas that most need them and to support community decisions about their own future."

– – Robert M. Groves, Director of the United States Census Bureau

Accurate data reflecting changes in your community are crucial in apportioning seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and deciding how more than $400 billion per year is allocated for projects like new hospitals and schools.

That's more than $4 trillion over a 10-year period for things like new roads and schools, and services like job training centers.

I will ask this....does EVERYONE have to fill these out....do they go after anyone who does not.....and you know there will be many who won't....I just feel like its a scare tactic for those of us who have filled them out before...and those who don't....nothing will come of it...

I understand what all of you are saying and I wish I felt better about this but I have so much anger in me right now...and I can't seem to shake free of it...even though I did fill it out and I will mail it Monday....

I do appreciate all the info you all have provided....
