Maybe this one will stick. So the Flight Recorder has been retrieved and it's on it's way to Jakarta. The black box has been located and will be retrieved as well. We should know sooner than much later why that Air Asia plane went down with all aboard.
On CNN it was reported that the plane exploded as it hit the water. I don't know how this is known or verified. I just view it on the television.

Yes, last night it was reported that the flight DATA recorder had been recovered.
The flight VOICE recorder has been found, but (as far as I know) has not been pulled from the sea.
At least this will give the families some answers as to what happened.
Right now, all everything is just a guess as to what happened.

I didn't see your thread PlaidPants - sorry.
Curious that the pilot didn't have time to dump fuel so that the explosion or fire would not have been that damaging. Time will tell.

I've always thought and said that there should be duplicate boxes (four total) in two different areas of each plane. Just in case the first set cannot be retrieved, there would be the 'back-up' boxes. If all are found, one set could be given to another (maybe International) whatever, and the other set given to wherever they send them now. Sort of a back-up investigation system.
