You don't have to turn off your phone.  Just turn off your alert capability in your phone settings.

DH and I did not get the phone alert because those settings are off.  It did come on the TV.

This was being sent through at a Presidential Alert.

You cannot turn those off - only weather and amber alerts can be disabled.

On my LG there is even a system statement on the Emergency Alerts settings page that reads "Prediential alerts

Presidential alerts are always presented."

They cannot be turned off.

@Marp  But that is YOUR phone, not mine.  Honestly I really don't care who received this alert.  I didn't as well as others on this thread.

If this alert can override even if my alert notification is shut off, so be it.  I cannot prove nor disprove why my alert never came through for me or for DH, whose phone is another brand.

People are right for their situation; people are not wrong because their phones functioned differently and the alert never went through regardless of settings.

Ok now??

Crikey. lmao

First, I never said I received the alert--I did not.  What I related was a statement from either my carrier or as part of Android that is now part of my phone's operating system.  It is not an optional alert like weather or Amber.

There is an investigation into why so many did not receive the alerts, why some received it repeatedly and why the alert knocked out AT&T cell data communications thorughout parts of the Pacific NW.

P.S.  So glad that you were able to have a good laugh.  Now it's my turn.

I remember when I was six or seven when get under the desk and put your hands over your neck drills started in case of a nuclear bomb.  We were also told the results of the bombs dropped on Japan and why we had to get under the desk.  I decided then that if a bomb  happened I wanted to be at ground zero.

@cherry and @Marp

I too remember hiding under the desks at school.

The house we now have has a lead lined bomb shelter. I would never use it. I wouldn't want to survive such a hideous event.

We do get local notices for floods and fire. We have been evacuated several times. The siren is terrifying to hear once you have heard it for a legitimate reason. It makes my heart pound to hear it.

Re: 🔊Cell Phone Emergency Alert

I don't use a cell phone. If it were up to me, I would not even have a landline. I have to keep it for DH in case of emergency.

I remember the days of hiding under the desks at elementary school.

I'm an old lady now and am going to die from something eventually anyway, so don't give a hoot about getting phone alerts.

I promise to remind myself every day that I am strong, courageous, and resilient.

Probably not ‘over and done with.’

This was a test so most likely we will continue to have updates

in the upcoming months/years.

My concern...I predict criminals will somehow/someway use the

You didn’t receive the text message? Let me help you for fee...’

type of scam for those who don’t fully understand the process.

I feel it’s important we still talk about it for total awareness.
