Re: Celebrities “In Person”

[ Edited ]

I've never had an in depth conversation with a celebrity- here are my sightings

Saw John Cusack outside The Three Penny in Chicago  (theater). Not friendly

Friend and I passed Chris Rock and another guy on a Chicago street after bar hopping. Tried to converse - he wasn't having it

Taylor Kinney films around Chicago for Chicago Fire. Made direct eye contact with him hoping he'd read my mind that I love him. He didn't feel the same

Back in the 80's when I was in college I went to an Oprah taping. She shook everyone's hand after the show. I asked her if her diamond bracelet was real and she looked at me like I had 4 heads.

Saw Rob Lowe in the 80's eating at a Chicago restaurant. He wanted people to notice him. Loud and dramatic

Few Chicago sports guys in passing (Kerry Wood, Bo Jackson, Frank Thomas)

fun to read everyone's posts

Re: Celebrities “In Person”

Many many years ago my sister was one of a few who won a contest she entered from Parent's magazine and was on Regis & Kathy Lee show. She was pregnant with twins at the time and was to suprise our Mom and tell her on air, as 3 months earlier she had lost twins at 6 months. Anyway, I went with mom & sis a year later on the follow up show. While waiting in the green room, in walks Danny Aeillo form the movie Moonstruck with Cher. One of my favorite movies. He was dressed head to toe in black, he looked like an Italian mafioso. Well, he couldn't have been any nicer and talked with all of us for quite  a while. Told him I loved him in the movie, and he said he was a wimp in the movie. LOL. As for Regis, he came in and was not nice at all, yelling at his staff and never acknowledged anyone. The staff said his wife Joy was even worse. So, you never know.

@beach-mom , not at all suprised about Jonah Hill.  He comes across that way in interviews.

I have seen a few celebs in passing but the only two I can comment on as far as any interaction are Bill Daily (I Dream of Jeannie and Bob Newhart Show) and David Doyle (Bosley, Charlie's Angels) back in the day.  I met them as dads of friends I had so there so was no air of celeb..just being dads and that's how they were treated by us.

Back in the 80's, I was the top prize winner for a cooking contest sponsored by the newspaper.  I won a $1,000 and an appearance on tv with Matt Lauer interviewing me.  This was before his big move to channel 4 and way before his firing from channel 4.   It was when he was starting out on Channel 9.  He was very nice and prior to the actual tv interview, we had a very nice conversation about family in the "green room".

Jon Bon Jovi grew up in my town and went to the same  NJ high school my son went to.  My son knew him quite well and hung out with him and a few other friends.  That was before he became famous.  Such a nice person.

Last is Bruce Springsteen.  He's often seen around the NJ beach areas where I live,  and he always takes the time to chat. What a nice, down to earth person.   Here is a recent picture I took. One thing is for sure, he'll never have a mens fashion line on QVC...Lol   272198816_10220417295484515_7612228321962390428_n.jpg

Back in the mid 50's, my dad was fresh out of the Marine Corps and working in Norfolk on the local police department.

A very young and just starting out Elvis was doing a show there, and my dad was part of the backstage security for the show.

He said Elvis was a very kind, mannerly and humble person and treated everyone well.

Re: Celebrities “In Person”

I've never had a conversation with a celebrity but looked up one time at Marshall's in Matthews NC to find Tammy Faye Baker standing next to me. She bolted when a did a double take.  Continued my day of shopping at the next outlet store and there she was again! Too funny.

I went to the same school as Katrina Leskanich from Katrina and the Waves when I went to an international school as a teenager. She was four years ahead of me so she didn't pay much attention to me. Lol

When I was 18 working at JC Penney's the store had some kind of promotional thing with Dr. Pepper.  David Naughton was the face of Dr. Pepper and his movie American Werewolf in London had just come out.  He was at the store for hours and asked me to have dinner with him that night.  I said thanks but no thanks.  My long term boyfriend was the son of the General Manager of the store.  David's career did not go anywhere, but it was nice to be asked.

It is to laugh!

My parents and I were on a road trip through Northern California when David was filming a Dr. Pepper commercial in Ferndale.

We stopped and watched and I fell in love with that town.  I ended up going to a nearby university and spent a lot of time in Ferndale in those years.

(Had a mad crush on David.  Loved that Pepper commercial.)
