Sadly, in way too many cases, a fatal mistake.

The photo of the female hunter with that giraffe was sickening.  The giraffe's face, even in death, looked sweet and trusting, making the photo all that much more horrifying.

And what's worse is that woman (Sabrina Corgatelli) said she was "proud" of herself for killing that giraffe saying it was a "really old one".  Imagine, being proud of killing any creature who had survived for so long.

She also boasted that, if people are angry about Cecil, they'd better get ready to be angry about a lot more.  The implications being that she and other "great hunters" were going to be killing many more "trophies".  Totally disgusting example of a human being.

This is a link to the story.  Please be warned, there is a photo of her with her "trophy".  I don't want to upset anyone who is sensitive to that, just want to give people a chance to read it.

Please, please, let's not turn this into a political thing.  Surest way to serve up a death blow to this thread.  Not the venue for this kind of stuff.

All I can say is that for those people who are so SICK OF CECIL, they sure spent a lot of time and energy on this thread talking about Cecil and provoking folks who feel deeply about his torture and death AND the cause he represents.

Now, I'm not understanding something.  If I can't stand to hear any more about a topic, I tune it out.  Turn off a TV, turn off a radio, leave a room.  Why on earth would I start a thread, follow a thread, engage others in conversations about this topic, etc.  I don't get it.  The moderators must be scratching their heads at this one, assuming they are not on sick leave with massive headaches.

If anybody has any designs about doing this in the future - or maybe we should do it now - a thread should be started:  CECIL LOVERS ONLY!  with the disclaimer:  Any negative or disparaging remarks are forbidden and will immediately reported to the moderators.  That way, Lovers have their thread; detractors can have their thread.  We can call out killers of animals for trophy SCUM (we call them as we see it); the others can call them CTP (contributors to prosperity).

Count me in for Cecil.

I came late to this "party," but I would like to share a few thoughts.

For all of us who care about any cause related to conservation issues at all, we have to understand and accept there are those who will always ridicule and demean this cause.  Methods of insult always accusations that we place people second, there are more demanding issues to be concerned about, we are just "fixated" on this cause, blah, blah.

The next time someone starts a thread saying they are "sick" of any issue that they know is near and dear to our hearts, let's just ignore the thread.  I've read some comments here that make ME sick.

It's obvious there are those who take great delight in diminishing/demeaning what is so important to others.  Don't take the bait.  Let them stew in their own juices.

Hey, I've been called a "bleeding heart" more than once.  It's a badge of honor, folks.  At least we have hearts.

Actually, most of the insults are being directed at the people who aren't inerested in this story. I've kind of seen people being called "unintelligent, having nothing important to say" and so on. I've also seen people have their morals and intelligence questioned, too.

Not trying to be mean, I feel bad for the lion, too. It was terrible what happened to him and I hope his cubs will be all right.....just saying. To be honest, though, almost everyone on this forum flips out over big and small small things.

One time on this board, a lady was going to adopt one kitten out of a litter of four kittens. She was promptly berated, chastised and scolded for only taking one kitten instead of all four. Was told she was "breaking up the family." So, in all seriousness, seems like animal lovers can't please each other, either.

*shrugs* Sorry, truth hurts. Again, not trying to be mean, just I think almost everyone who posts on this board knows that people are going to bicker with each other over pretty much everything.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this a 'Tired of Cecil Fanfare' thread?   Why are people telling us not to post here?  I'm not carrying on in all the Cecil threads.

First of all, it's not the cause that I'm tired of, it's the over dramatization of people.   People are acting like they lost their own family members (pets).

Then all these kind and caring people are actually wishing death on someone because he did something they don't like.  However distasteful ( and I find it very much so) How humanitarian of them.  I consider this ironic.

This is a legal activity, and I bet no one but the researchers even knew the lions name.

If you watch enough nature shows, which I do, you have to be desensitized by animal deaths.   Many male wild animals will kill their own babies just to breed with the female.  While amazing and beautiful, they are often vicious and deadly, some from birth.   I just watched one on eagles and the first thing chicks learn is to push the smaller baby out of the nest so they can get all the food.

Every time an adult male challenges the leader there's a good chance one may die, and that challenger may be a sibling or even an offspring.

And as far as the 40 hour thing.  He could have just left him to suffer instead of spending that 40 hours to find him.   All meat hunters know that you track a wounded animal until you find it to try to end it's suffering as soon as possible, this isn't always as easy as people seem to think it is.

Animals don't have their own media channels or internet in order to let themselves be heard.  We need to be their voices.  They need us to keep this topic relevant.  Yeah, there are def other issues in this world but there always are.  That doesn't lessen the seriousness of these types of situations

It's too bad people can't take that suggestion for other topics and threads they don't like.

No one is "over-dramatizing" anything about Cecil. What people are doing is showing GREAT CONCERN and OUTRAGE on a cruel, senseless act by WP, a despicable POS. Your comments in paragraph 3 are RIDICULOUS.
