Gosh, I should have used a profanity. Then perhaps the deletion would have made some measure of sense.

But as I asked in Post 76, there seemed to be absolutely nothing in my post which would have seemed to cause it to be deleted. Nothing political was said.

And I suppose describing the state of the world as it is might be controversial. But to delete a post articulating that isn't gunna change the actual state of the world. People do understand that, don't they? lol

I am just finding it a bit weariness to post thoughtful comments only to see them deleted for mysterious reasons.

While, quite frankly, I could probably sound the alarm on a ton of others' posts which I could say were somehow out of line or simply not to my liking.

I think when one is at a forums where in other threads, people often articulate some desire to see removed anything not to their personal liking, its important to know why certain things might be removed (without really much to warrant it) IMHO.

You can't ask a question like the OP posed here without getting or regaining some sense of perspective. A question doesn't exist in space without any context or associated comparatives.

How can the world be so taken with XYZ will lead to others perhaps giving their perspective or reasoning as to how XYZ fits into a bigger picture or the whole scheme of things.

But maybe I'm asking too much. And I should join the gang in asking a thousand times over why someone said something rather than regarding what it is they said.

If someone is so tired and bored with everything Cecil...why would they create a 14 page thread about Cecil? lol

I mean, after a while, its sort of clear that something is off in that.

Maybe its just me. But when I'm tired of something I just move on to something else.

Dear Mod Squad,

Since @surfk is one of the more articulate (and interesting) writers here, I would like to know the answer, too.

With many thanks for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Moi

They don't owe anyone an 'explanation', one of my posts was zapped as well, had nothing to do with politics either, shrugs.........

Actually, the same moderator deleted two of my post today (in different threads). And neither post seemed to contain anything deletion-worthy.

So while I don't know if an explanation is "owed", it does demonstrate to me that there is perhaps something a tad capricious about certain deletions.

It isn't a case of demanding an explanation as though one is high and mighty. Rather its asking what exactly it was about (in today's situation, two different posts) a particular post which would get it deleted when there appeared to be nothing about it (either one) that defied standards or even much fit the descriptions of the official reasons given.

So while its all ANNOYING its mostly asking how one can avoid it from happening again when one usually goes to great lengths to keep it from happening in the first place at all.

That's why an explanation is useful. How can we be expected to learn...without knowing that which we're doing wrong?

And the one in this thread which was deleted was merely explaining the fact that Cecil is on the collective mind of the world because his slaughter for fun & profit represents Man's disregard for both life and the environment.

That gets deleted???

@surfk, I saw your posts, so I have to believe this was a mistake/misunderstanding. In light of a very very active political thread going on right now, I would find it hard to believe that your post here deleted for "being political" was not a mistake. I hope you get an answer.

From what I've seen this evening, I think the mods are in a meeting or gone somewhere.  People are on a tear.

There are all kinds of stories of man's inhumanity to man and to animals. One is no more important than the other. They all represent something horrendous in society that allows people to commit horrible acts. Thank God millions of people are horrified about Cecil. At least that means there is still some humanity left in this world. As long as these things come to light, more people will take action.

I have mixed feelings about this topic.  I do feel bad about Cecil but the dentitst didn't know the lion was beloved.  His local guide is the one who should take responsibility.  I am thoroughly against all the trophy hunting.  However, in that country they allow the hunting because Americans pay thousands of dollars to do it.

The other thing is that a lot of lions are killed every year so why was this one so famous, becuase the lion had a name?  In my part of PA we have hundreds of cute deer that run wild and they are allowed to be killed and no one questions it.  If we gave each deer a name would it make a difference?

First of all Cecil wore a huge very visible tracking collar.  Secondly 'the dentist' killed another animal and used it's carcass to bait Cecil off of the game preserve where he lived.  Given this, I'd say he certainly did know Cecil was  protected and took steps to kill him anyway.

His local guide has been charged.  Further,  under the doctrine of Respondeat Superio
[Latin, Let the master answer.]  an employer is liable for the actions of an employee when the actions take place within the scope of employment.

I'm against deer hunting too.  JFYI Lions are very much endangered, deer are not.

I came late to this "party," but I would like to share a few thoughts.

For all of us who care about any cause related to conservation issues at all, we have to understand and accept there are those who will always ridicule and demean this cause.  Methods of insult always accusations that we place people second, there are more demanding issues to be concerned about, we are just "fixated" on this cause, blah, blah.

The next time someone starts a thread saying they are "sick" of any issue that they know is near and dear to our hearts, let's just ignore the thread.  I've read some comments here that make ME sick.

It's obvious there are those who take great delight in diminishing/demeaning what is so important to others.  Don't take the bait.  Let them stew in their own juices.

Hey, I've been called a "bleeding heart" more than once.  It's a badge of honor, folks.  At least we have hearts.

Actually, most of the insults are being directed at the people who aren't inerested in this story. I've kind of seen people being called "unintelligent, having nothing important to say" and so on. I've also seen people have their morals and intelligence questioned, too.

Not trying to be mean, I feel bad for the lion, too. It was terrible what happened to him and I hope his cubs will be all right.....just saying. To be honest, though, almost everyone on this forum flips out over big and small small things.

One time on this board, a lady was going to adopt one kitten out of a litter of four kittens. She was promptly berated, chastised and scolded for only taking one kitten instead of all four. Was told she was "breaking up the family." So, in all seriousness, seems like animal lovers can't please each other, either.

*shrugs* Sorry, truth hurts. Again, not trying to be mean, just I think almost everyone who posts on this board knows that people are going to bicker with each other over pretty much everything.
