In the past two weeks, I have gone to four different grocery stores looking for cauliflower.  I'd really prefer fresh, but would buy frozen if they had it.

Anyone else having problems finding this in your area?  I am in PA.

@Carmie After reading your post I realized I never "search" out cauliflower. We rarely eat it and prefer broccoli. I thought I saw it at the store the last time I went but I can't be sure. Good luck finding it.

I have noticed the shortage, just a couple on the shelf. The caulilower I have seen at Kroger have been really small. Walmart I haven't seen any in months

Re: Cauliflower shortage??

[ Edited ]

As I recall, news from California last year during the drought explained that the vegetable growers were hit hard and that production suffered. I expect that is part of the culprit for the missing cauliflower.

Another issue is the growing demand. Recent frozen products like riced and mashed cauliflower have started to use part of the supply. Cauliflower pizza crust is being used for gluten free options. When demand is rising and the source is not producing at full capacity, we have shortages particularly in the fresh produce area.

Same here, it's been hit or miss in NW Indiana.. And if a store has it, they're puny heads.  One store wanted $5.00/head.  I refuse to pay that.  We went to Costco the other day, to pick up my eyeglasses.  Rather than make another stop, I thought we could pick up our produce there.  We were able to get most of the items we needed, but there were some bare sections in the produce cooler - no cauliflower, no romaine, no asparagus.  I'll be in ALDIs this week so 🤞

I usually by cauliflower rice or buy it in a bag fresh with carrots and broccoli.tucked it if is scarce. I do know that green cabbage is impossible to find here...finally found a few heads at Kroger that were the size of baseballs with all outer leaves removed already. Didn't bother. Also having trouble finding celery bunches that are have more than four stalks to them. I see so many people now pick up produce, look at it, then just put it back.
