@sunshine45    I feel certain they were not "let go" but were given a nice retirement incentive and chose to accept it.  Both Carolyn and Dan have other interests which are probably more enjoyable than QVC.  The pressure is off so they can now relax and enjoy what they love to do.

To only lay off older hosts would violate civil rights law and leave the company susceptible to lawsuits.  K-Mart did that years ago and spent the next 10 years in expensive litigation.

@Kachina624 I am not so sure about that.  If they were offered something that was a choice, I would think they would have been given time to think about it.  Then they could have announced their retirement and said goodbye to their co-workers and customers.  I am inclined to think this was a, "You are done, here is what you get," conversation.

I cant believe they got rid of her instead of many other unwatchable and annoying hosts.....And please dont tell me it was about sales, because QVC has stated sales only impact host bonuses and salary raises.......And for the 4th quarter and 2022 overall revenues and Sales decreased 11%........How can QVC justify layoffs when they have 2 and more and more 3 hosts in one show....

@Spurt  As you know, I rarely watch anymore for all the reasons so often discussed yet that remain unaddresed, but I absolutely agree Carolyn was one of the more competent hosts. Dismissing her instead of one of these newbies (and a few oldsters) who bumble and stumble through presentations that do nothing to educate the customer or move the merchandise is an insult and is inexplicable in any way that makes rational sense. This was poorly planned and even more poorly executed. In other words, vintage QVC.

@Spurt Agree 💯

I am insulted with the layoff of Carolyn Gracie and Dan Hughes. I have noticed lately that many new young host have been hired to help the regular host. I have a hard time believing that QVC would layoff two seasoned host that know the products and connect with the viewers on a personnel level. If QVC is in trouble and needs to cut corners they why don't they drop the other channels like QVC2 and QVC3. That has to cost more then the salaries of two senior host. Like many of the people that have commented about this I am done with QVC. There isn't anything QVC has to sell me that I can't buy some place else.

I just learned that Carolyn and Dan were let go. I had assumed they were on vacation. Big mistake QVC! Why would you let go 2 of your best hosts? They were always very informed, knew their topics and gave helpful descriptions. They were also pleasant to watch unlike a few of your hosts that rarely know what they are talking about but are very full of themselves. Why keep the hosts who have obviously not done any homework/research on what they are presenting and stumble through their shows? I have several hosts I don't even bother watching anymore because of this. You should hire Carolyn back and get rid of a few of the ones that don't do their jobs. This decision will cost you sales!

I could not agree more. Carolyn's melodic voice and her clear and informative view of products is like NO other host. That executives (what are they, 12 years old) make such a decision is beyond this one time QVC customer. No other host, except Dan Hughes, ever informs and gets to the heart of products as Carolyn.

If management thought they lost money in 2022 wait until they experience the ire of we longtime customers.

I am cancelling most if not all of my autoships and will seriously consider shopping elsewhere.

Well I am not happy with the fact that Carolyn Gracie no longer works at QVC and I’m extremely disappointed with QVC and their parent company for this decision. Carolyn is one of QVC’s best and my favorite host. I always look forward to watching her and Gary on the Denim & Co shows with the squirrels. So enjoyable. Sorry to say this but I really don’t look forward to watching anyone else like I did Carolyn. This means I won’t be spending as much with QVC if at all. After 33 years with QVC and this recent action with Carolyn (and Dan), I am no longer a fan of QVC.

I so agree.  It makes me sick to think they would fire the best host they have.  What are they trying to do - save a few bucks by hiring young inexperienced people ?  You know it's the older folk who have the time and money to watch these shows.  And now the one host who was my size and build and whose humor I enjoyed is gone.  So other than a very few items like maybe from Susan Graver, I will be shopping at Macys and Amazon.
