This announcement is too sudden and unexpected.  Had she chosen to leave, she would have announced it beforehand.

Carolyn let go over other hosts?  They have to be kidding!

It almost appears QVC management wants to fail.

She turned 64 last September and I believe the oldest... a company looking for an excuse to let seniors go when the opportunity arises? Very common.

On that last birthday she said she hoped to stay around (QVC) for a long time.

Have you seen the threads here for the past year about Carolyn and the "squirrel"? They could be brutal. Her appearance too has been raked over the coals. I suspect her sales figures weren't what QVC wanted and she was let go. Otherwise she would have informed her fans a whole lot sooner.

Ughh, they keep the ones that are very annoying, and always seem to get rid of the best hosts!  I'm sad. I always thought CG was great!

I have been with the Q since the CVN days.  Carolyn is my all time favorite host. She is so genuine and does a wonderful job explaining the products.  Love her on the garden shows , Denim and Co and Belle Kim Gravel.  She is the best host and one of the reasons I still watch QVC.  QVC has changed greatly over the years and not for the better.  I have ordered all my shoes, clothes, cookware, cosmetics, and much more over the years.  I really never shopped elsewhere.  The new hosts just do not keep my interest. After a few minutes I change the channel and I do not think I am the only one.  Carolyn and Gary are the reason I still tune in.  Such a great loss and a very bad decision in my opinion.  This is a very sad day for the many fans of Carolyn.

Re: Carolyn’s gone

[ Edited ]

Once I turned 57, every year the company that I worked for sent me an email, stating that for a limited time, I could schedule a meeting with Human Resources to discuss early retirement or more accurately, a layoff option with an offered severance package.  The window opened when insurance open enrollment began in the Fall. There were about 150 people in my office, most in their 20's and 30's. I think the old woman, me, was too expensive to keep around. Their benefits were always stingy, and I always declined.  My financial situation was/is average at best and I needed to keep working.  If I was in a better place money-wise, I would have taken them up on it.   Carolyn must have received some kind of deal given her status.

Carolyn is one of the few hosts that I will watch. I hope that she enjoys her future adventures!

I'll miss Carolyn, and I'm wishing and hoping that she and her husband will enjoy a new, wonderful beginning.

I'm guessing that her pets will be happy to spend more time with her, too!

I don't subscribe to FB, but maybe a few posters here will post updates.

Sending you the very best good and heartfelt wishes for a beautiful retirement, Carolyn.  Heart

I believe before joining QVC she had been a DJ; she has such a great voice. No squealing or shrieking that seems to be popular now....she is so relatable and popular among viewers....I wish her well and hope what she is headed for the best part of her life. She will definitely be missed.

Was she let go?

Shannon Smith at HSN was let go too.  It's obvious that they are parting with high salary hosts.  If a company has to cut salary costs, you start with workers who earn the most money.

Sorry to see both Carolyn and Dan gone. QVC has gone downhill, when I received a QVC gift card it took me over a year to find something to buy. I do agree with a previous poster that some former hosts who left saw the writing on the wall. Carolyn and Dan will certainly be missed. Won't be buying anything from this company anymore. How awful to be let go so close to retirement.

@Trailrun23    Carolyn does voice overs as a side job.... she can always fall back on that at anytime....
