So we recently got a new car and my husband insists it needs to parked in the garage. The problem is I'm terrified to pull it in and out. I've only driven the car 2 times and that was before my husband cleaned the garage out. I know it's silly but I stress over the thought of it so I drive me truck instead. Many years ago I actually did hit the mirror of a car on the middle section of the garage. My garage now doesn't have that but obviously I'm still stuck on this silliness. Anyone else dread this? Any tips?

@Lali1

You could just park it in the driveway and let him put it in the garage!  eyes popping.gif

Hang something like a tennis ball from the garage ceiling at exactly the point where the front center of the car's hood should be when properly parked.  That will at least give you something to aim for.  When backing out, go straight - don't move the steering wheel and you won't hit the sides of the garage.

I used the hanging tennis ball at our former home.  Now we park in an underground parking garage where my husband put green painters tape on the wall to show me where I need to center my car when pulling in.

I didn't read all the replies but would better lighting in the garage help?

Maybe put out some reflectors as well.    Not sure if it's your sight or her space relationship but either way, better lighting could help

Or ask hubby to pull it in & out for you.

Due to the angle of our garage vs house

DH has always backed my car into the garage

it's easy to pull straight out

@Lali1 Everyone here has great ideas.

I also had this fear. Took awhile to overcome it. Every time I pulled out of garage my heart would pound. I thought I would have a heart attack. But if you pull in straight and your tires are straight when you pull out, you will be ok. Just take your time, there's no rush. Your fear will go away the more you do it.

Thanks everyone so much for the advice. Tennis ball is up. My hubby had a spot marked in the garage I had to line so and so up with the line just far too confusing. He told me to move the truck out into the street because even he was afraid he might hit the truck with the mirrors on the car. So I'm determined to drive it tomorrow. My young male neighbors who are all into cars laugh at me because I won't drive it. They tell me they'll drive it for me lol

I back my car into the garage.  So much easier than pulling in, nose first.
