What a magical story!I love his story too...but look at how dehydrated he is in that picture...he looks like a bodybuilder in a contest...not healthy for man nor beast!
That's a horse on Lasix...they lose up to 30 pounds of fluid before a race.
They are all on drugs.
Total nonsense... you don't know what you are speaking about. It's fine to bring awareness to the issue, but like Kitty said, you are painting them all with the same brush and it's not true or fair or justified. If you care so much, do something to change it!

Are you doing anything to fix the problems, terrier?
Or are you just going to smear ALL owners and trainers?
Good night. I'm on my way out.

Not really a fan of horse racing. I dislike the disposable aspect of it. I also wish they waited a little longer, gave them a little more time to grow before starting their training. In addition, it always breaks my heart when a horse gets injured and especially when it has to be euthanized.
We saw the derby while we were eating out tonight. I like the backstory of CA Chrome but probably won't watch the other 2 races. Most of the time, if I watch any of the triple crown races, it's a replay after they're over and I already know no one was injured.

As I mentioned terrier... Willie Shoemaker was the jockey for some of my godparent's horse races..... the horses don't need doping when you have an awesome jockey that understands the horse and how it performs. Maybe some of these owners/trainer (you say ALL) need to invest more in good jockeys rather than doping the horses? Again, if you care so much, what are you doing about it, other than not watching horse racing and complaining about it? Just curious....

You are good at generalizing and painting pictures with a broad stroke. Please provide evidence that they are ALL on drugs. Can you prove that statement? If not, then our only conclusion is that you are making things up.
Yes. there are abuses in the industry, and I am the first one to call for reforms where needed. What are you doing to reform the industry or help these animals? Here in Kentucky, we have plenty of opportunities to help retired racehorses or other horses whose owners can no longer afford to feed them. I assume that you do something like this -- due to your concern.
I am fortunate enough to live in Old Louisville -- less than two miles from Churchill Downs. I have been fortunate enough to spend a lot of time at the track -- including time on the backside and time in parts of the facility that most people will never get to see, and with all due respect, I can only say that you are truly and totally clueless.

Good night. I'm on my way out.
Did you read the stories I linked? Especially the one from the NY Times?
Doping has become a HUGE problem in just about every sport. Football, baseball, HUMANS put their bodies and lives at risk to get bigger, faster, stronger.
If people are willing to risk early death and all the side effects of human doping, at least they are able to make an informed decision before they cheat. Lance Armstrong knew what he was doing.
The poor horses have no choice in the matter.
We need to clean up the sport. Attendance at tracks has been going down tremendously. The number of horses who break down on the track has been going up.
I hope the sport will adopt European standards re" meds.
Four Derby horses voluntarily provided their medical records. This has to be the standard for all horses.
As I have said (I think a few times), I work in this business. I've read more about these issues than you've ever even thought about, I'm quite certain. I have stated I am against doping. I am behind the movement WITHIN THE INDUSTRY to make sweeping reforms.
My issue with YOU is your insistence that EVERYONE in this business is guilty. You are wrong. It is unfair to convict everyone.
