We have a roof antenna but can get nothing on it now due to all the towers being moved miles away due to development. So we stick with cable....basic cable. DD has direct tv and they have nothing at all when it rains. Ridiculous,

We just cut the cable cord tonight!!! We don’t have smart TVs, so we installed fire sticks and got a subscription to Hulu Live TV. Hulu Live lets you have it on 2 devices. We have a lot to learn, but Im watching it now !! I will call to cancel my cable, but keep the WiFi with Infinity.

The cost of my internet service has doubled in price in the last two years...but my internet speed is the same. If I want the faster service then the cost will go up exponentially.

We cut the cord about 2 years ago,,,,don't miss it at all and we are saving money.

We use an antenna for over the air free tv, works great for local channels.

We use playstation Vue for all the live tv we want, around  $50 a month.

Amazon prime, Hulu and Netflix round out the rest of our tv needs

All that, still lower than our directtv costs that kept rising and we rarely watched more

than a dozen of their hundreds of chanels.

@feline groovy  What I want to know is how do you record shows on a DVR if you cut the cable?  99% of what I watch is recorded and viewed at my convenience.

In the end, I'm not sure this is entirely good news.  As the number of cable subscribers go down, and the number of people using streaming services goes up, cable companies will simply charge more for internet service.  In fact, they already are.  I wish there was a way to meter internet usage, so heavy users would be charged more.

I've never had cable.  Free TV works fine for me since I really don't watch many different things.

@pdlinda:  you can view anything on Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. at your convenience, and don't have to set up or remember anything.
