CROCHET OR KNITTING QUESTION? PLEASE !!!

I'm not sure where to post this......hope I get some responses.  There certainly are lots of knitters and crocheters out there.

I'm making a ripple granny stitch lap robe (sized to use when on a recliner).  I know most afghan's are finished with fringe but I'm not really crazy about that look!

Does anyone have any ideas as far as alternatives go?  Thanks

@Gerri S, I'm a knitter and have made several afghans.  Like you, I don't like fringe, except on scarves.  I just cast off and call it a day.  I've given them as gifts and no one has complained about not having fringe.  Hope that helps.

Definatley crochet, you can do one row of single crochet and then a row of picots, which are little smei circules made by 3 or 4 single crochets in one stitch.

I founf this online

ou work a single picot by working 3, 4 or 5 chains (depending what size bump you want), then single crochet into the first chain and single crochet in next stitch along the edge.

You can continue with picots in every stitch or spread them out along your row.

Crochet picot edging 2

Try joining your yarn to your project you want to edge where you want to start, then *work 1 X 3 chain picot, single crochet in next 2 stitches, repeat from * for alternate picot/single crochet edging.

For less frequent picots along your crochet picot edging just work more single crochets before you work your next picot, ie. 1 picot, single crochet in next 5 stitches, would give you a picot then a 4 stitch gap before your next picot (a multiple of 6 for working out stitch numbers).

Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and start being positive what could go right.

You can just attach the yarn and do a slip stitch all around to have a more finished look.

That is something I could do s well (more knitter than crochetter) and I really like the finshed look!

@Gerri S

How about reverse single crochet aka crab stitch?  It gives a nice finished edge.
