My niece came over today to pick up some items for her mother and caught me polishing a pair of shoes. I wear Finn Comfort clogs and they are expensive IMO and I tend to wear them for years.
The leather on the toe section was scuffed, so I polished them before going out today. My niece said only "old people" still use shoe polish. So I said, "what's the problem, I am old enough enough and smart enough to know how to use it properly, unlike some younger folks."
I asked her why she wouldn't polish expensive boots that were scuffed up and she said it was in fashion to wear a worn-out look.
So, does anyone else still use shoe polish or am I a dinosaur?

Unless one lives on a farm, scuffed up shoes or boots look like cr@p. Of course we use shoe polish for men's dress shoes and my fashion boots.

I use it, though not as often as I should. How else would a person get his/her shoes looking nice again? Find a "shoe shine boy?"

I don't, but I am ordering a carpet sweeper like my grandmother had, lol.
DH DOES use shoe polish when he buffs up the look for church or wedding or the like.

My son is the keeper of the shoes in our house.LOL He is very serious when it comes to fashion and wants everything to look on point. He mink oils all the leather boots and shoes and avoids suede like the plague. I guess his fastidiousness pays off because strangers ask him if he's a fashion model or works in fine men's clothing.

I do...and every early spring I line up all my boots, shoes and give them a good cleaning and polishing before putting them away.
I won't wear scuffed up, dull looking shoes, it must be my age, ha!

Of course we still polish shoes at this house. Today I bought 3 tins of polish.
Nothing looks worse than someone dressed up with scuffed shoes.

I do, but not on a daily basis anymore. Also, I hate doing it.

That would be a yes from me

If you have nice shoes or boots made from good quality leather, polishing them goes a long way in softening and preserving the leather. Well-cared for leather has a beautiful mellow patina.
As a member of the military, I used to "spit shine" my shoes. I could make a pair of plain black pumps look like patent leather. FYI: We used a little water, not spit.
