Class never runs scared.  It is surefooted and confident and it can handle whatever comes along.

Class has a sense of humor.  It knows that a good

laugh is the best lubricant for oiling the machinery

of human relations.

Class never makes excuses.  It takes its lumps

from past mistakes.

Class knows good manners are nothing more

than a series of petty sacrifices.

Class bespeaks an aristocracy unrelated to

ancestors or money.  A blue blood can be totally

without class while the son of a Welsh miner may

ooze class from every pore.

Class can "walk with kings and keep its virtue

and talk with crowds and keep the common touch."

Everyone is comfortable with the person who

has class because he is comfortable with  himself.

@Lindsays Grandma, funny you should bring that word up. Just talking a couple of days ago with my husband and remember a quote from t.v. show, that money doesn't mean you have class either. LOL (Was it that song by LouAnn in a Housewives show?) Long ago.

There are two kinds of class:

Disagree with the fourth statement. Ill mannered louts are classless and everywhere these days. Manners aren't petty to me,they show regard for others. I agree with the rest of the statements.

I clearly distinguish when good manners are used and so called 'class' distinction.  Many think they have Class, or know what Class is - wrong.

To me, to be classy is to be kind and respectful--always, not just when I might be able to butter someone up.

Well, this is certainly timely given what we are witnessing  and have been witnessing in our national news this year. I think the quoted piece really says it all. Wonder if people see any connection there?

Very true, quite possibly what you call 'class', I would call 'crass'.

It doesn't say manners are petty it says the sacrifices for having good manners are petty though.
